Stayed here for two nights and found it to be clean, tidy and the staff efficient and friendly.
Close to centre of town with views of the lake.
Sahme the window in the room didnt open, although this could have been a blessing with the local area niff, but the air con wasnt too noisy that it stopped us sleeping.

This hotel (at least the room we stayed in) needs a cosmetic redo. The carpet was worn and stained, several places in the toilet need serious detail work; the bathroom fixtures are solid even though the shower is a bit tight. The "Standard 2 Double Beds" room we had was barely comfortable for two people as it was tiny. This room had two comfortable double beds but I am glad that there were only two of us; scarcely enough room between the beds for me to pass and hardly more room elsewhere. Had there been two couples, it would have been akin to four people sharing a single king size bed. Usually I don't particularly care if my hotel room is tiny. After all, how much time do you typically spend awake in the hotel? However, this room is on the very edge of what two people can share at all. When walking around the room, one has to pause while the other passes by. At the very least, I would avoid sharing with any more than one other adult; adding children might be just as hard, as parents are sure to understand. However, the location is quite good: close to the cafe district but, at about a block away, it is far enough from the noise of the CBD. The staff are quite friendly, the place is spotless, and, while it is not exactly a bargain, the value is reasonable for Rotorua.

Room Tip: "Standard 2 Double Beds" rooms are tiny. Consider a "king" room for more space...

Yes, are hotel rooms that accommodate 2 double rooms are compact, but serviceable. As a point of interest we do not allow 2 couples, or 4 adults into these rooms, a maximum of 3. Generally these rooms are accommodated by a single couple or a pair of travellers. If 2 couples are travelling we encourage either two of our interconnecting rooms or indeed for more room two King rooms. We are in the process of rearranging the sideboards to create more room to get around the room which has also made a significant difference. Thanks for taking the time to express your views in the trip advisor review.

A very enjoyable time. Jackie on the front desk was amazing. Anything we wanted to know she told us or found out for us. I would go back and stay again. Close to everything and always a friendly welcome when you came back.

Fantastic view of lake Rotorua from our hotel room. The room was spacious, clean and comfortable. Reception staff were approachable and very helpful. Breakfast was generous.
We took a few trips here, to thermal seismic area of the town, a jet boat ride on the lake etc., most enjoyable.

The Ibis Rotorua is a budget hotel in the Accor chain, located very conveniently to many sights: it is within a stones-throw of the lakefront and no more than 5 minutes walking from the village of Ohinemotu and St Faiths church, the restaurant/cafe/bar quarter and ten minutes walk to the government gardens and hot pools, and about the same distance around the hospital hill to Kuirau Park. It is also immediately adjacent to the slightly more upmarket and larger Novotel Rotorua. Our room was compact and basic but clean. Staff were friendly and efficient. Having a car park beneath the hotel was great as we were concerned about security. No character or charm - but for price and location pretty hard to beat.

A well-located hotel, situated just behind the Novotel hotel, is a value-for-money place, with good friendly staff. At a short walk, there are quite a few eating options available. The 3 rooms we had were not very spacious but pretty functional. The place has a coin-operated laundry, which was quite handy

Room Tip: Rooms on the lakeside are better

A Lovely Hotel with everything you need to re-charge your batteries. There were six of us and we had three rooms all next to each other. Everything was clean and comfortable and the shops were within walking distance. We drove easily to the Luge from the Hotel, and at night time we were collected from the Hotel and taken to the Maori Cultural Evening, which was only approx 20 mins away.
