Recommended length of visit: 2-3 hours
Owner description: Opened in August 2012. Explore the ancient forest of the Mamaku Plateau 10 minutes from Rotorua on New Zealand's only native forest zipline canopy tours. In small groups of up to ten people you will be accompanied by two highly trained guides who will teach you about the rare New Zealand flora and fauna and the conservation efforts to protect them. Every plant and tree species you see, you will not see in any other country on earth!! There are two unique eco-tour experiences to choose from - the award winning 3 hour Original Canopy Tour built and opened in 2012 includes tree platforms up to 22 metres above the forest floor, 6 ziplines and 2 tree to tree swing bridges. The 3.5 hour Ultimate Canopy Tour is even longer, faster and more spectacular featuring a suspended cliff walkway, 1.2km of ziplines (the longest is 400m!), swing bridges, a controlled descent and an incredible spiral staircase.

Our family (23, 25, 56, & 60 years old) did the tour this morning. This tour is both exhilarating and educational - and one of the best things we've done during our 2-week tour around New Zealand. The guides were perfect- patient and encouraging while ensuring everybody was having fun. I think we all had some "oh my God" moments stepping off the ledge, but we all made it through with their encouragement.

Flying through the native forest on a 220 meter zip line is something you don't get to do everyday. A heart-pounder that adds value by mixing in a real insight into the conservation efforts that are going on there to preserve a special part of New Zealand.

Although this tour was not the main purpose for my visit to Rotorua, it definitely ended up being a highlight! The guides were wonderful, the small group format was perfect and the actual experience was incredible. Thanks for a fantastic morning!

The tour was good fun zipping down the wires and it was all done in a very safe manner. The guides were really good, informative and passionate about the forest and conservation of the area and the birds. Some of the entrance fee goes to conserving the area with the view of trying to increase the natural bird population again. Overall highly recommended.
