“Beautiful place to take a walk”
Reviewed July 10, 2014

We took a late afternoon stroll through the gardens recently when on holiday and passing through Rotorua. Were pleasantly surprised by these gardens and how far they stretched. Beautiful gardens, well maintained. We also came across the playground near the rose gardens which our children enjoyed playing on. I imagine on a beautiful sunny day this would be a great spot for a picnic.

Definitely worth a look if you are in the area.

“Serene, well laid out, yet close to a school”
Reviewed June 30, 2014

It was dead of winter there and yet the weather was great so it was a delight to walk around and enjoy the well laid out garden area. Very close to the lake so we also got to watch the swans on the lake as well as travel the paths in the garden. The view of the gardens from the viewpoint atop the museum was lovely and yet I could also hear the students playing at the school located near the edge of the gardens. Really a fun juxtaposition of the formal and the laughter of the school. Lots of people with small children and prams in the garden made it a wonderful experience.

“Beautifully laid out thermal activity gardens”
Reviewed June 23, 2014

We drive in through an impressive gateway and parked near both bubbling mud and steam outcrops contains trees and a mix of hardy plants and near a thermal pool in which to warm one's feet, which 2 of our party did. The gardens also contained the museum and a cafe where we had a snack lunch which was good vale and tasty. Behind the museum was another sulphur lake with plenty of bird life and changing colours - very attractive despite its aroma. An enjoyable morning.
