“Go to the museum - it's a must!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 30, 2013

Te Papa has added the Maori wing on, which is simply superb. wonderful old film clips, recordings, art and explanations of Maori culture.

The old medicinal qualities of the mud and the thermal waters is well documented in photographs and the antique equipment. Very interesting.

The gardens are well laid out with walking/cycling tracks through to Sulphur Point, and a walkway around the lake edge to the water sports area, cafe etc.

“The epicentre of Rotorua”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 8, 2013

One of the more pleasant areas of Rotorua to wander about.

There is a nice historic layout of gardens; with the grand Rotorua Baths (an extraordinary mock-Tudor building from 1909, that is now the museum) located in one area - $20 charge to visit the museum; next door the just as historic Blue Baths which, after an $11 charge, has a heated outdoor swimming pool, and two hot pools for your use - all being chlorinated, and not mineral pools, but very pleasant all the same.

Cars still rule the roost in the Government Gardens, with lots of parking for your vehicle.

“Great for a walk!”

While strolling around Lake Rotorua, visit the Government Gardens which is also home to the Rotorua Museum. Very pretty with the Autumn foliage.
