“All the family loved it”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 27, 2014

We got to the park for the eruption of the Lady Knox geyser at 10.15am, aim to get there for 9.45 to get your ticket first and drive to the site without being in a rush. We then did the shorter walk in the park and our small children (8, 6 and 3) really appreciated all the different colours of the pools and the steam. They loved the boardwalk across the champagne pool too!

“A real thermal wonderland”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 26, 2014

We have decided to visit Wai-O-Tapu over other thermal parks and we did not regret our decision.
We walked around the entire area, it said it would take about 75 minutes and it was about right. We saw steaming pools, colourful pools, sulphur cave and more. It was simply amazing. Before entering the park we drove to Lady Knox geyser which erupts around 10:15 each day with a small help of one of the employees. We also saw a mud pool with bubbling mud which was special. There was a really good souvenir shop before exit.

“A fun afternoon spent with the family”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 24, 2014

The bubbling mud pits and steaming geysers were a treat. We have already visited the ones in yellowstone national park so these were less exciting but our toddler thoroughly enjoyed it. You can take a pram most of the way but there is a section that is mostly stairs and would be unable to take it with you. We just left the pram in a shelter and continued, then collected it when we were finished.

“Well set up and best experience of the thermal pools”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 24, 2014

This is great value for money! You see the thermal pools in depth and learn a lot about them. It is a beautiful walk around and you can spend several hours here. I dont recommend the 10am geyser eruption. This was a lot of hype and not worth going early for. One thing to take note of is that if you do the long walk there are not bathrooms on the walk. So you are 1-1.5 hours away from the main reception where the bathrooms are.

“Nice but didn't like the tourist price tag”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 24, 2014

I can't help but feel Rotorua is shooting itself in the foot with the prices they charge to walk around and view the natural attractions. This place is a prime example, they obviously have very small overheads but charge a ridiculous amount of money for people to have a look at what nature has spent so many years building. I just can't come to grips with small groups of people profiteering from natural treasures that I feel should be "natural" and not an "amusement park". Will never go back to Rotorua...
