This Holiday Inn was a great bargain for us at just over US$100/day. The pool was very nice, large and warm. So were the spas (two). Although we didn't get a chance to have the dinner buffet there, I took a look at the food and they were good (NZ$47 for adult). The room was nice too, good quality mattresses and pillows.

Btw, if you don't know, all the hotel rooms in NZ are equipped with an electric kettle, from a cheap motel to 5-star Intercontinental. Very convenient.

Great holiday inn standard rooms with lovely views, a little small but clean with comfy beds, also felt fantastic to be right next to the thermal area. They were very busy when we checked in but the reception lady was very helpful trying her best to accommodate us. Great pool and breakfast.

Just one little thing, it states on their website that it comes with free internet, it turned out to be for the first half hour only. I do believe the holiday inn Rotorua shall work on this, free wifi is everywhere now. And the newspaper didn't come as promised, we are priority club members.

Dear inHoliday,

Thank you for choosing to stay at Holiday Inn Rotorua and for taking the time to comment on Trip Advisor.

I am pleased you enjoyed the room, beds, pools and breakfast! I am disappointed that you didn’t get your newspaper and apologise for the inconvenience caused. Our Free Lobby Wifi is for 30mb or 30 mins – whichever occurs first, though, as of 01 January 2014 we now offer free standard internet access for all IHG Rewards Club members. We appreciate you sharing your experience and look forward to welcoming you back the next time you come to stay

This hotel is absolutely lovely. We have stayed here before when I think it was called the Heritage Hotel back in June 2009.

The thermal swimming pool is nice and warm and the 2 spa pools are rather warm especially in the summer. Would be nice to take a dip in the middle of winter.

We had a Superior room with 2 double beds. The beds were comfortable and you had a choice of soft or firm pillows (complete with little labels). Unfortunately, room service each day failed to make the beds properly and the bottom sheet remained rumpled.

The bathroom was spacious and clean with shampoo, conditioner, body wash, body lotion, shower cap, etc. The hotel also provided you with toothbrush, toothpaste, etc if you needed them.

The hotel is situated close to the town centre which is about a 5 min car journey. This hotel is alwso bordering on the edge of the Redwood Forest which is wonderful for walking and biking the trails.

Didn't use the dining room as the buffet dinner was quite expensive ($47.50 for an adult and $2 per age of child) as we dined in the town centre along the newly established Eat Street.

Would recommend this hotel to those staying in Rotorua.

Fantastic location in the beautiful town of Rotorua.
Our room overlooked the thermal village pool and Maori village. The hotel is on the outskirts of town however still close to shops, supermarkets and attractions.
Room was luxurious, clean and comfortable.
Excellent value for money!

I chose the Holiday Inn as I had points to available to use to book accommodation. I was really pleased I chose this hotel. The room was a typical Holiday Inn room, so it was what I expected - well appointed, modern decor, clean, large. We had two Queen beds to sleep 3 of us. We had the added bonus of overlooking the thermal wonderland that is Whakarewarewa. The window overlooked the hotel's large hot pool & spa and the hot springs and mud pools of the Village. We had a rental car and as the Holiday inn is at the end of Fenton St, this was needed to get to the hotel. If you do not have you won car, you would be better off staying in town. We ate both dinner and breakfast in town so I cannot review the hotel restaurant but they do have a dinner show if you wish to see traditional dancing. I would stay here again when in Rotorua. (If it is important to you, there were lots of Chinese tourists staying here - obviously a hotel of choice for tour groups. Didn't worry us, though).

Room Tip: ask for a room overlooking the thermal village

Usually stay at Novotel but it was fully booked the night we arrived so booked a night at Holiday Inn. Would have preferred to have stayed the whole duration at HI with no status in a 2 queen room with 2 kids as opposed to a suite at Novotel with platinum status.

Room was on top level of tower by pool. Clean, spacious 2x queen room. Spacious enough for a family of 4 on a brief stay..

Pool was excellent. Good size and great temperature.

Excellent stay for a family with a 2 and 4yr old
