Don't attempt to get out of the luge when it is moving it hurts, listen to what the guys at the top say, as our daughter found out the hard way, needed a trip to the meds centre. Other than this slight mishap we had a fantastic afternoon, you must take the 5 ride option to get the best out of the day. In actual fact we are going again next week. Great time had by all.

“Stunnung views the town and lake”

You should take the gondola to the top to enjoy the stunning views and there are plenty of things to do up there. For the active there is the luge. We chose a wine tasing with Volcanic Hills wines who have just opened. They source grapes from all over NZ. They have previously rented production capacity from several wineries but are about to make their first vintage in Rotorua at a new winery next to the bottom gondola station. We had a great time and the views from their windows were fabulous. We bought 3 bottles and later bought 6 more at a bottle shop in Taupo.

“Great family fun”
Reviewed March 25, 2013

This is a very well run operation. We took the gondolas up and down and my husband and daughter had 5 turns each on the luge going down the scenic route once, intermediate and advances routes twice each with no problems. We also took advantage of the discounts that a combo provided so they also did the sky swing. For gondola, and 5 luge rides $47 NZD and we paid additional $15 for sky swing. If you buy that separately it is $30. I was a bit disappointed that the two minute DVD cost $30 and felt that was very expensive. I sat and watched and the views over Rotorua are spectacular. Plenty of places to sit in the sun or shade. We then went to the $25 lunch buffet. This was very good value for money with king prawns, pork cutlets, beautifully cooked lamb chops, roast beef and of course, salad and vegetables. Later there was dessert, ice creams and tea/coffee. The food was nice and refreshed regularly as the restaurant was quite full Whilst the overall experience wasn't cheap $149 for entrance/rides $30 DVD and $75 for lunch it is entertaining and we were there 3 hours. You can of course go for a lot cheaper by taking food, and reducing your rides, purchases. Overall a great day.

“The biggest buffet ever?”
Reviewed March 23, 2013

What an incredible buffet - I lost count of the number of dishes we ate - probably into double figures and the quality of the food was excellent. Dont forget to take advantage of the extra ride up the gondola, so you can see the area in daylight.
