“Excellent Museum”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 13, 2014

As a local and a ratepayer my family and I have free entry which is great thank you. There is something for the whole family and my young girls enjoyed exploring the maze of baths, the tunnels underneath and the viewing platform. I really enjoyed the Maori artifacts and other local significant displays and will return again when Nana is looking after the girls to spend a bit more time studying the exhibits. The shaking movie and interactive kids displays were excellent for keeping the kids enthused. If your looking for something to do on a wet day or after a touch of culture try it out I personally think a $20 admission is pretty good for all it has to offer.

“A $20 entry charge. Really?”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 12, 2014

Sure it costs to put exhibitions on. But to justify a blanket $20 charge I find hard to stomach having just enjoyed the wonderful Christchurch and Dunedin museums for free. Not sure this is the right approach, particularly for locals. Great setting, but didn't have time to make that entry be value for money so didn't go in.

“Intriguing museum”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 11, 2014

I really enjoyed this museum but it is a shame that there is rather steep entry fee. It was really interesting learning more about the Maori culture and history of the region and looking around the basement. It was great climbing to the viewing platform.

“A good place to know more about Rotorua”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 10, 2014

Housed in a brilliant formal spa building, the Rotorua Museum was a good place to learn something more about the history and geology of the town. And... it was also an ideal place to learn how the building was operated during the past.

“Beautiful building outside but not worth the admission”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 6, 2014

A beautifully kept building and looks magnificent but a bit hit and miss for your 20 dollars inside...the movie, bathhouse and maori displays were enjoyable but the exhibitions were lacking plus the access to the viewing deck was closed. Would be good on a rainy day but if the weather is good, just take the photo and see something else.
