We 1st did a tour at night in the forest which was so beautiful with the lights in the forest. We were able to see the kiwis at night in their enclosed area for night viewing. We then came back during the day since we had a wrist band to come back. We really enjoyed that as well because we could go to the shows and feed the fish and ducks. We also saw the kiwis in the day enclosed area. We even saw a kiwi do their little squeak. If you like nature, it is a nice place to visit.

As a NZer and travel blogger, I found the entry fee to be expensive, especially for pre-schoolers. I also felt $2.50 for a small bag of fish food was excessive. We managed to get a special deal online but it was still more than I wanted to pay. However, if you want to see a kiwi and tuatara, then this is the place to visit. Try to get there early before the tourist buses arrive.My 3 year old granddaughter enjoyed chatting with the ducks (which she could have seen at home) and the very friendly kea.
