“It was ok, wouldnt rush back”

Visited with two small children. They loved it, feeding the fish and running around. As an adult though I thought it was lacking. Quite expensive for what you get. Some trout, a few birds and the kiwi house. The bird show was average and the girl running it came across as quite condesending.

The setting is pretty, lovely bush and in a nice tranquil environment. The playground is great as is the big splash.

Overall it was a nice day out for the kids.

“Visited as part of a tour”

Interesting park, though if you're deciding between Paradise Valley and this, I'd choose Paradise Valley.
Great though if you want to see Kiwi's - pretty much as close as you can get to them (behind glass, no pics allowed of course).
You are able to take as many photos as you want in all other areas of the park - and the guides were friendly.

“Just to see kiwis”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 9, 2012

Our visit here was short due to the fact it was just part of a day long shore excursion around Rotorua as part of a large group of cruise ship passengers. We had a guided tour with an American guide (?) and we saw birds, fish and giant redwood trees. The highlight was going into the nocturnal Kiwi House to view the kiwis. I'm not putting this attraction down, but other than seeing the kiwis, this park was not really a standout for me. The splash boat ride (which I didn't go on) seemed out of character with the animal theme of the park. We did buy the obligatory photo-shopped "kiwi in the hand" pictures because you cannot take a photograph of the real kiwis .. other than stuffed ones and the giant 'all-blacks' jersey wearing fibreglass one.

“Fun and Education”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 5, 2012

This visit was something someone had recommended we do so we did it and was really pleased that we did.

We did the Kiwi experience and that was fantastic - with so much we didn't know about our little native birds. We managed to see all the good work that was being done here.

We then did our fun bit and went on the Big Splash which is not JUST a fun ride. It was informative and well worth loosing our stomachs over the drop into the final pool.

The trout pools were great, the wekas, the big Kauri trees - well worth it.

This place is cool, the animals the bush the fish, could not see athing wrong with it. The kiwi encounter is good, lots of info and the staff do a great job. Typical prices in the shop but they were very friendly. Have recommended it to many peopl.
