Owner description: Polynesian Spa is New Zealand’s leading international day spa. In a picturesque, tranquil setting overlooking Lake Rotorua, visitors can enjoy a wonderful fusion of relaxing hot spring pool bathing, sumptuous spa and massage therapies and picturesque lake views. Polynesian Spa has the use of two types of hot mineral water, one alkaline and one acidic, that are the unique point of difference of the operation. Many thousands of visitors to the spa have attested to the remedial effect the hot mineral waters have on such ailments as muscular complaints, arthritis and rheumatism. The Priest and Radium springs are most noted in this respect. We invite you to experience this World Top Ten Spa (natural/thermal/medical), as voted by readers of the prestigious Conde Nast Traveller magazine for several years and once again in 2011. We look forward to welcoming you to Polynesian Spa.

“Just another Pool for the Family option”
Reviewed April 13, 2013

The family option limited our experience, but upon entering the heated spa's the temperatures where not correct. It seemed that the turned them back on after we entered the water as the did get up to temp afterwards. Our mineral spa at the Holiday Park was more impressive and included in the price of our stay.

Thank you for your feedback. I am sorry you felt this was not a great experience. We do have staff who monitor the temperatures of the pool quite frequently throughout the day to ensure it is consistent with the signage but I will look in to this particular incident as this certainly should not have happened. Perhaps our Adult Pools & Priest Spa or Lake Spa would have been more suitable as they overlook Lake Rotorua and have more of a variety in terms of temperatures and the number of pools available. I hope you include us in your next visit to Rotorua as this is not the experience that the majority of our guests receive.

“Wonderful way to be pampered”
Reviewed April 11, 2013 via mobile

Our cruise ship stopped near by and we rented a car, drove here and spent 4 hours... The pools of increasingly hot water were a great prep for our Mud Polish and Hydrotherapy Massage... Fabulous. We liked it so much we purchased gift cards for friends who hosted us from Auckland.

“Relaxing way to spend an afternoon”
Reviewed April 10, 2013

The adults area is the better part and worth the few extra dollars. Clean facilities and was reasonably quiet when we were there. Staff are very friendly and helpful.

The pools seem all of similar temperature even though they say they differ and the guys in our group found them a little too hot, thought a plunge pool might be a helpful addition. Fine for me though, spending the afternoon looking out over the lake.

Thank you for taking the time to post a review and also your feedback with regards to a plunge pool. We do have a plunge shower in both the Adult Pools & Priest Spa and the Lake Spa for guests to cool down after or during their soak in our hot mineral pools. Staff are actively checking the temperatures of all pools to ensure they reflect what is shown on the signage on the pools. We do recommend starting in the cooler pools and work your way up to the pools with higher temperatures. Great to hear you had a relaxing experience and we hope you return in the future :)

“Relax!”
Reviewed April 9, 2013

We visited the spa after a long drive and found it very relaxing. We used a private spa and the 39 degree temperature was perfect. The receptionists were very welcoming as was Manuel, the private spa attendant. He made us very at home and was busy keeping the facility spotless when we arrived. The pool itself is very attractive with inlaid stones and steps allowing you to sit out of the water if you get too hot. Because the spas have no roofs, cool air circulates freely. It's very peaceful. Make sure you don't have to drive a long way afterwards. You might fall asleep.

“A treat”
Reviewed April 9, 2013

We treated ourselves to the private delux spa with a view out over the lake which was excellent.
Towels & "cossies" can be rented if required although for the private spas you don't need a cossie as its totally private so birthday suit will work.
Our only complain is that the staff for the private spa's had gone AWOL and it took two trips back to reception to chase them before someone finally appeared.
