Exceeded expectations. Rail travel via funky 4-seater electric cars through native bush & farmland. Views of Lake Rotorua. Informative commentary. Awesome use of disused railway line, following mammoth restoration efforts. Amazeballs staff. Highly recommend...fantastic, fun and informative trip for all ages.

Found this by accident but it turned out to be a lot of fun and a display of Kiwi ingenuinity, this is a completely self drive system on an old recovered rail line, the cars were designed and built locally and the computer system was also designed specifically for this, it is informative and before you know it your trip is over, you become engulfed by the view and time soon means nothing as you happily travel along the track in your own little bubble. I would highly recomend a trip here.

We went on a family of three (included a 5 yr old child). Rail family made assure you arrange all fast so that we can drive one hour to the hobbiton tour. The tour is long with no much to see but is definitely a one time experience that should do it. They take you on a rail for over 60 minutes on a speed that rounds 15-20 miles.

We enjoyed the experience, the scenery and the information given through the onboard commentary.
We were pleased we could take our little dog with us - he enjoyed the ride on the way down and had a good snooze on the way back.
Very cool little cruiser cars. Friendly and helpful staff.

Very helpful and friendly staff, great afternoon through beautiful scenery. Staff went the extra mile to retrieve a lost hat along the track. Innovative and fun. Can highly recommend - especially for children 2-8 yrs and adults
