“An experience that even Kiwis would be proud of”
Reviewed May 21, 2008

As Kiwis with regular visitors of friends and family from overseas, we are always wanting to ensure that they have a great experience and enjoy as much of the 'real NZ' as possible. While the obligatory trip to Rotorua is normally on the agenda, we were interested in a recommendation made by friends about Tamaki Maori Village. While the price of $95.00 adult/$55.00 child (which included entry into an additional nominated attraction) was expensive for our party of 8 when we only wanted a dinner and show, we took a deep breath and hoped that we wouldn't be disappointed. We most certainly were not disappointed and were very impressed. Clearly it is a venture that needs to be commercial, but they are able to combine the sometimes contradictory elements of sleek and polished presentation with authenticity and dignified portrayal of Maori culture. A very unique experience that would rival anything in the world.

“locals view and it isnt good”
Reviewed December 18, 2007

Being local and knowing what to expect from Maori culture groups, I expected a lot more from Tamaki Tours. We were bitterly dissapointed with thier dated performance and patronising leader. The friendly bus drivers and tour guides were the highlight of the evening however, even they could not distract from our dissappointment. It has slipped emmensley from a few years ago when there were older wiser performers who added humour and kept you entertained. The walk through is great but the performance and meal left more to be desired, yes the food was ok but the wine outrageously expensive (you'll see if you go to a supermarket and compair prices) and the wait staff a disgrace. After having a rushed plate collector tip our bottle of wine into our meal (no offer to replace wine, and thinking it was funny) and then coming back every five minutes to collect our plates even though we wernt finished and putting her dirty hands all over the mouth of our remaining wine bottle, we were happy to leave them to it since they obviously were trying to get rid of us. If you don't know any better you will find it good but we took our visitors to both Mitai and here and even they (with thier limited experiance of nz) thought Mitai was more professional, entertaining and relaxed in a some what more authentic environment, I give Tamaki Tours two thumbs down which is sad because I would love to say the opposite.

“great experience”
Reviewed July 27, 2006

We had a great time at the Tamaki show. It takes place partly inside and partly outside, so if you go in winter like we did, wrap up! It was very well done and the outside parts especially were very realistic and atmospheric. Loads of food, satisfied even our picky daughter!

“A must see”
Reviewed October 19, 2005

Tamaki Maori village is a must see.

Great food with a wonderful show performed respectfully and with dignity. Not touristy like similar shows I have seen.

The bus ride is a bit long but our bus driver was very entertaining and informative.
