The Novotel is in a great spot in Rotorua. Very near shops and restaurants, in fact you can walk the whole area. The hotel is very nice and the staff are very helpful and friendly. The hotel does have hot pools, I did not use them but they looked very clean and modern.

We drove from Auckland Waitomo to Rotorua. Booked IBIS, however IBIS staff told us that we have been upgraded and moved to adjacent Novotel, After check-in in we realize that room was “Joined room and all the noise from adjust room was audible, it was not possible to get peaceful sleep. I called front desk; they said no rooms available. Sometime after complaining Kayli ( ?? ) said we can move you to other room, which was not possible as we had all bags unpacked, baggage spread all over. We somehow slept listening to adjacent family’s noises.
We observed that toilet was not clean, not expected from 4* hotel. There were lots of tourists from conducted tour and we were placed on same floor. We could not relax due to huge noises from groups going up and down.
Next day I called at reception to confirm that we have breakfast included, front desk person ( Male 22/May morning 8.00 ) said we have not opted for breakfast, you will have to pay. I checked my booking it which was including breakfast. Again, I went to reception, the front office lady checked and corrected, this was frustrating.
Overall, we did not found staff friendly at all, especially couple of ladies were rude. However, Novotel is at prime location, near food street and lake. It is excellent property, nice vegetarian breakfast however customer service has let it down.
We had a welcoming experience at the hotel from Grayson the duty manager. We had a room upgrade + a complimentary bottle of wine. Unfortunately my car was broken into while in the hotel carpark and the staff were very helpful at advising where to go to the Police station. All staff were friendly and nice.

On business I attended a workshop using Novotel Rotorua meeting facilities. I must say this is a lovely spacious hotel with top quality service. This made me more perplexed that a top quality hotel would show such distain to the environmental impact they had. I was part of a workshop for twenty people over 5 days. Water was provided by 350ml plastic water bottles. Two pp were given at start the day with two top ups through out the day. The maths goes like this 20 x 4 bottles x 5 days = 300 plastic bottles (up to) to land fill. In addition coffee was supplied by coffee capsules in an express machine. And no, there was no other choices for water or coffee. I did refill my water bottle in the toilet. Please Novotel you could do better
Had a very restful weekend away in Rotorua. Pleasant staff that did everything they could to help.
The bed was so comfortable that we had the best sleep. Also the hotel had a great buffet. We enjoyed the atmosphere in the bar area.

The hotel is very nicely located next to eat street and good for walks near by. Well spaced out with a lovely breakfast spread enjoyed the stay here. Service was excellent as can be expected from any novotel. The hotel also had its own geothermal water pool which was very relaxing.
