“Clean quiet hotel in great location”

We were given great walk in deal by duty manager David Chetty. Clean quiet room with huge very comfy bed in fantastic location with lake view and 30 seconds walk from Polynesian Spa. Our 2nd time here and we will be back.

Thank you for choosing to stay with us again. Having John arrange a good walk in deal and likewise a great lakeview room I'm sure, made for a pleasant night. We look forward to your return. Kind Regards.

We recently stayed for 2 nights during the middle school holiday weekend. I thought it was good value for money as our deal included breakfast for 2 adults and the children were free. It was a fantastic breakfast too, mixture of hot and cold options, plus fruit and pancakes, pastries etc a great way to start the day, and lasted us right through to a late lunch. The kids ate up a storm, especially the bacon! The joinery in the hallways etc betrays the fact that the hotel is getting old, but our room was perfectly tidy, the bed comfortable and the bathroom modern. We had 2 adjoining rooms, one king and one with two doubles as we are a family with 3 children. The rooms faced the lake and had a nice view. We had guests to our rooms for a drink one night and the staff happily brought us a dinner plate and knife so we could cut up and serve nibbles. The kids also loved the pool, despite its temperature, which was too cold for me, (the adults stuck to the spas) and happily switched between the spa and main pool to warm up/cool down. My only comment would be for the hotel to consider having two porters available at check out time as the one porter who was working was overwhelmed with the number of guests needing help with their bags and needing to retrieve mountain bikes from storage etc.

Thank you for taking the time to post your feedback and I'm pleased the family had a great weekend break over the school holidays and especially with a good hearty breakfast to start the days. We have raised the pool temperature, which normally sits at 29 degrees, to 31, to allow for the colder air temperature as we have had similar comments recently. We also do try to have additional Porter assistance at peak times over holiday periods in particular, so will follow this up with our Front Desk team. Best Regards.

We booked a family room on the ground floor prior to arriving on 23rd July. On checking in we were shown to one queen bed on 2nd floor. Back down to reception and were given the correct room as there were 2 adults and 2 children. We had so much trouble with our air con and had maintenence 3 times to try and fix. It was running on high and could not be altered. Finally at 11pm it was fixed but was so noisy that eventually through the early hours of the morning we had to turn off.
I sent an email to management telling them of this when we returned home, but have not had a reply. I agree with Michelle B the pool was so cold that the children had to use the spa. When we went to use the spa the beauty therapist asked if the children could please not make a noise as she was doing a treatment.
We ate at 5.45 to get the discount for early eating and told reception that but on checking our account when home the discount was not given.
I think the dinner menu for children could be altered to add a few more things. The meal the children ordered was very small.
Unfortunately I would not recommend this for a hotel to take children.

Just returned from a one night stay at this hotel and did not find it value for money. John Chitty however was kind enough to upgrade us to a lake view room, and we found all the staff at the hotel friendly and accommodating. My main concern, besides the property looking tired in a few places, was that the huge lovely pool was definitely not 29 degrees - It was totally cold. We had just come from another hotel which had a pool at 29 degrees and it was far warmer! Bit of a disappointment for my children and our family. We noticed that no other families were using the pool either, and it is the middle of winter! Our other gripe was the air conditioning units situated right next to our bed in the rooms were so noisy that we ended up turning them off and opening the sliding door as we just couldn't get to sleep. Overall, for the star rating and price, I feel we paid a little too much for this hotel.

Room Tip: Ask to change rooms if air conditioning keeps you awake.

Thank you for posting your feedback and I'm sorry the pool was not warm enough for you. It is currently sitting at a temperature of 30 degrees and is checked daily so Im not sure what happened during the dates of your stay, apologies. I am pleased you found the staff friendly and that John Chetty assisted with your room upgrade. So I can have the air-conditioning unit checked in the room, would you be kind enough to email direct with the name of your booking so I can have this actioned. Many thanks.

We have recently returned from a 2 night stay in a double double lake view unit. This is an older style hotel as you can tell from the joinery/doors etc, but the furnishings and bathrooms are very good. I recommend that you pay a little extra for a lake view room, as although the garden courtyard is nice, the lake view rooms were fantastic. The entrance foyer/bar/lounge area was lovely - very spacious and classy. The swimming pool was fantastic and the spa pools divine.
Breakfast was adequate, good selection, although one of the mornings was very busy and the restaurant was quite crowded. Great friendly service from the (American/Canadian?) porter.
Great location as you can walk to town or to the lake.

A special thanks to John Cherry (Duty Manager) for going out of his way to make our stay a wonderful experience. John went to the trouble of upgrading our room when the room we had booked wasn't satisfactory. The hotel was reasonably full so we are really grateful that John went to this extra effort for us.

Room Tip: Club rooms on the 5th floor are worth paying extra for.
