Silveroaks seems to have gotten quite a lot of bad press on here but we actually found it to be good value for money when we visited recently. We had a studio room which was a bit tired looking but everything worked and was clean. The staff were very friendly and went to quite a bit of effort to make us feel welcome.
It was a bit of a shame that the spa pools weren't working; there was a sign in reception which said they were closed until further notice. The wifi in our room was a good surprise, when it worked properly!

This hotel could be nice. However, it is run down and in desperate need of some maintenance. Worse though is the fact that when you report these things to the office, the staff and manager just don't care. The playground is a poor excuse for a playground, the pool (nice temperature) has a peeling bottom. I booked on a voucher which stated studio to 2brm suites and they booked me a 2brm (by email) but we were put in a 1brm on arrival and had to do a lot of protesting to get the room I booked. (In my opinion a voucher is a 'deal' not a reason to receive a reduced service). I emailed the Auckland Silveroaks Group to report back (if it was my business I'd want to know) - they just didn't care - so I'd stay well away from any of the Silveroaks Hotels in the future. Worst hotel I've had in NZ.

Room Tip: Go to the hotel next door - same price and ten times nicer!

I am most disappointed to receive this feedback.

We certainly do care and respond to our customers, and we certainly did respond to this guest.

In this situation the guest purchased a voucher for a studio room, the guest made a booking for 2 adults and 2 children, so we provided them an upgrade to a one bedroom apartment.

When the guest arrived she insisted on a two bedroom apartment, we advised her on check in that we could not accommodate this as the voucher was only for a studio room. The guest created a "fuss" in reception so the Manager did provide the guest with a two bedroom apartment.

The guest was of the opinion that as she had two children we should have provided them a two bedroom apartment, and she was not happy that we had only booked her into a one bedroom apartment, and she was not happy that the reception staff advised her she was not entitled to a two bedroom apartment.

The Resort did respond to this customer with best intentions, and I personally spent two hours also explaining this to the customer. We did advise the customer she could have a two bedroom apartment but was not prepared to pay for the upgrade.

We will always provide the very best service, and whenever possible we do provide upgrades, but these are subject to availability

This place looks nice from the road and if some money was spent on a refurbishment it would be great place to stay. When we got to our rooms we found a TV did not work, a kettle that leaked, the fold out sofa bed had a one inch thick mattress that was so uncomfortable my son slept on the floor and in the room one of our group stayed in the microwave would only work in 30 second bursts. We were drawn to the private mineral pool that were advertised on the website, when we got there, a notice said they were closed until further notice. We were not told this when we booked. When one of our group got into bed they discovered that there were hairs in the bed, when we complained we were told they were not hairs but fibres from the washing machine, the sheets were changed for us after this.

The 1 bedroom unit we had, had plenty of room and good light although the establishment was certainly dated

The pull out beds in the living area were not the best - and there were a number of light bulbs missing - the hot water was just warm

The cooking facilities and utensils were not up to standard

The swimming pool was out of action so we relied on the mini putting to keep a 10 year old amused

Free wifi was welcome

Thank you for your valuable feedback

We have made a number of improvements since your stay in 2012.

The rooms are a great size, and the pool and spa complex are extremely popular

Kind Regards

This is not a clean place, this is an outdated, run down, cruddy looking place.
With a massive collection of bird poops on our bathroom window, massive stain in the main bedroom carpet, a tv with shocking reception and a smell that would rival rotten egg's we definately would reccomend this as a place to stay. If your paying over $80 p/n your probably getting ripped off. The cleaner needs to wear deodorant, she smelt so bad it made me gag.
Nevertheless we had a good time but would not reccomend this place unless u got it on a last minute heavily discounted deal.

A TV with no remote control. An extremely soft bed where you rolled together in the middle. Dry damp near the heater inlet. Damp on the bare concrete floor where the spa was. Damp mould on the spa plug. The world's noisiest tiny fridge that belted out like a Spitfire engine every 20 minutes throughout the night. Non-existent customer service.

Hi, i stayed here from 1-2 March, in a family room, very basic, good kitchen lots of space. there was mini put, a heated pool, ok restaurant. Overall OK, needs a lot of handy man work. But you coul prob find better in Rotorua. We paid $240, 4 x pax inc breakfast.

Would i go again - yes as it is spacious, lovely people and cheapish.

Room Tip: the stairs are steep and narrow, so ask if you are up stairs not good for elerly
