If you're in town you might as well go for a stroll through these wonderful trees. Free things to do are hard to come by in NZ, so it's great that this place is available. You can almost get away from the awful, rotten egg smell of town out there. There are plenty of trails to choose from, so it's not to hard to find your own space. Give it a go!

“Feeling small in the Redwoods”
Reviewed July 2, 2014

The redwood forest was a cool place on a hot day, quiet and seemingly remote, the trees created a haven from the the hustle and bustle of the every-day.

“A must see, and free”
Reviewed June 30, 2014

The Redwoods are an amazing feature, so easily accessible and free. There are miles of bike tracks and walking tracks. The information centre is worth visiting if you haven't been before so you can understand where the best places are to to. If you are hiring bikes and spending a few days consider buying a manky (hanky map cross).
There is a cafe on both sides of the redwoods for those who are biking. It's not too much of a grind from the main car park up and over to the other side- maybe 20 mins.
There are great tracks for young ones, have a look at the websites to get your bearings, the Big Dipper is a good gentle option. Enjoy it!

“Redwood Forest”
Reviewed June 30, 2014

The walks were clearly marked and there are short to very long. Well set out and maintained. Not for anyone in a wheel chair as the ground is not paved. Had a lovely walk connecting with nature.
