About the best marked trails I have come across. Beautiful area. Great place to spend time moving about by bike, horse, or on foot. Walking or running. Great elevation map/model in the visitor center if you want to be sure of what you can handle. Trails color coded to make it easy to pick one and stay on it.

Easy to access from the main road, plenty of car parking and there is a small visitor information centre/gift shop where you can get some advice on walks. There is no fee to walk around the forest.

We arrived around 4:30pm so only had time for the short walk - the red walk - which only took half an hour and gave us plenty to look at. The walks range from about 30 minutes to 8 hours, they are all signposted so its up to you what you are capable of completing. You can purchase a map if you wish - probably a good idea if you are going to complete a long hike or bike ride, but for just a short one it is not necessary.

Beautiful view, on the short walk we saw this clear blue pool which was quite impressive as you could almost see right to the bottom.

We stumbled across this place by chance and what a beautiful place it is. We ended up going for a 2 hour walk. This place is also good for mountain bike riding and if we had more time we would of hired some bikes

Great place to take a walk with mates. We took friends from out of town here and they were blown away. The views and scenery here are great, and the best part is... ITS FREE. A must do for all coming to Rotorua

Separate horse riding, cycling and walking/running tracks, short or long, strenuous or easy. Good gift shop with information. We loved it as the birdsong was amazing, and it was an activity that you could still enjoy even if it was raining as the tree canopy kept us just about dry. The Redwoods are mighty impressive to view.
