A real treat when we found this area. A huge expanse of forest with many well marked walks. A real must do

Loved it - although only did the easy tracks. Stuart would have done more but I'd had enough. It was nice and cool in the forest too. Could quite easily have got lost - signage could be slightly better, but quite good overall.

We are really glad you enjoyed your ride and managed to find your way out! You'll be pleased to know that the Rotorua Mountain Bike Club who look after the trails will be updating track signage shortly. We will also be updating the track map signage located throughout the forest to match with our latest paper, cloth maps (Mankys) and Recreational Guides. So next time your visit, your experience shoul be even better!

There are a bazillion walks through this forest, but half a dozen well-marked tracks start from and loop back to the visitor centre - 1/2 hour, 1 hour, 2 hour, 4 hour and so on. We chose the 1 hour, stroller friendly track which wound through the giant redwoods - it was beautiful. With 2 strollers though and stopping to hug trees etc. it took us closer to 2 hours. And even though we saw heaps of other cars and buses in the carpark, we felt quite alone and zen during the walk.

Toilets, gift shop and coffee caravan at the end were very much appreciated. Gift shop in particular had lovely quality mementos, no tacky stuff.

This has to be a must to see in Rotorua. It was drizzling with rain when we were there, but that added to the beauty of the forest.Absolutely beautiful.

We walked around for about 2hrs in the redwoods, they were majestic and refreshing after walking around the hot and smelly (but great) hot springs.
