“Great walks, from small to large”

The forest provides a large amount of pleasure. On a hot day it is pleasantly cool in the forest. They cater for every one and there are some amazingly large trees in this forest.

Amazing forest, interesting gift shop and information centre type thing. Lots of wooden bowls and items. There is a bowl I want in that shop and have added it to my bucket list :D The 3D map gave you a clear view. The walks are amazing, the massive tree's and lakes. A good vareity of tracks. We always come here when we visit and so should you.

Most fun you can have with your pants on! Amazing graded downhills, uphills not bad at all.. my advice don't bother carting your mtb far, hiring a bike onsit or nearby at Bike Planet very easy!

There is a information center right next to the car park so make sure you go inside and ask any questions before wondering in. I did the 11.4km (purple) track and it took us a good 3 hours to complete. The paths have signs marked with the different colors of the different tracks so there is no chance of getting lost. This track is not easy if you aren't used to trekking up hill since for 40% of the track you are going up. You will however see how huge the forest is and all the different scenery this forest has to offer, I would definitely do it again. Make sure you are wearing sports/trekking shoes since the terrain contains dirt, rocks. grass and bring plenty of water and a little snack.

When you get to the highest point of the track you can see the whole of Rotorua and it's lake, a just reward for the up hill walking. We also saw a hedgehog sleeping on the side of the track which was a highlight.

We went on a summer day when it was cloudy and drizzling rain here and there. Don't be discouraged since the trees block most of the rain anyway and just wear a waterproof jacket. Most of the time we welcomed the rain and lack of sun due to all the walking, couldn't imagine doing the 11.4km track on a sunny hot day.
