The innkeeper, Christine, is amazing. Even if this place was a run-down dump, I would give it 5 stars because of the innkeeper alone...And this place is anything but a dump. The house is beautiful and the room very comfortable. Christine makes a mean breakfast, too.

One note on location: If you are looking to be in the center of town, this is not the place to stay. The place is very isolated and quiet, which was exactly what my wife and I were looking for. It is about a 10 minute drive to rotorua, so you aren't exactly out in the boon docks, but you get the feeling of being way in the country.

I highly recommend getting to know Christine's donkeys while you are there.

This Bed/dinner/breakfast home was the highlite of our 17 days in New Zealand...Christine Doolan couldn't have been a better hostess, chief, and by the end of the evening, friend. Great views, wonderful food, the most perfect, charming home....Our bedroom was just more comfortable than our own at home.....My wife and I highly recommend a stay above any hotel in Rotorua.....

I was made to feel so at home in this beautiful house and its surroundings - nothing was too much trouble for Christine! My room was so cosy and comfortable with an adjoining ensuite. Food was plentiful! Pity I could not have stayed longer to explore the beautiful gardens and surrounding countryside.

We stayed at Doolan's country retreat for one night only to break up a drive from Wellington to Auckland, but we wished we stayed longer! Christine is lovely and the house is stunning, with amazing views out to the lake, breakfast was yummy too!! We will definitely be back (and recommend it to anyone passing by Rotorua)!

Of the 17 different accomodations we stayed in during our 6 week vacation, this was our favourite. The hostess, Christine, opens her beautiful home to her guests and welcomes them like family. As others have said, the property and views are spectacular, location is great, accommodations are awesome and Christine serves a great breakfast. Truly a wonderful B&B.
