“The perfect country retreat !”
Reviewed September 2, 2012

What a perfect start to our honeymoon, 2 nights at Blossom Cottage, from the moment we walked in the door we were sooo impressed with extra attention to detail, the wee bottle of champers with the home made brownies, fresh eggs from the free range chickens, the hot tub, the views .... i could go on forever. We went out for a few hours to explore the sights of Rotorua but couldn't wait to return to 'our' wee cottage to relax. This is the perfect place to stay for every type of holiday the kids would love to domestic farm animals and various play things, it is perfect for going away with friends or as us the 'perfect' break away from everything to spend some quality time with your loved one.

Such a lovely place to stay! I was exploring the North Island with friends who have stayed at Blossom Cottage before and they wanted to return so we could explore Rotorua - I now know why. It was warm, very comfortable, clean and the home baking was amazing. The finish to Blossom Cottage is fab and the attention to detail is the icing on the cake. Marianne and Rene made us feel so welcome and even stepped into help when we had car trouble, towing us back to Blossom Cottage and helping us find a local garage to fix the problem! Who could ask for more? If New Zealand - Scotland was slightly closer, I would be a returning visitor. As it is, if anyone says they are planning a trip to NZ, I tell them to stay at Blossom Cottage to explore Rotorua.

On a two month adventure throughout 4 different countries, myself, my mother and my children decided we would like to spend time in the countryside of New Zealand. It turns out, Blossom Cottage was a very short drive to Rotorua and all of its amenities. The cottage itself was immaculate and filled with a feeling of love and pampering. Homecooked treats from Marianne, visits from her family with bowls full of fresh eggs and arms full of newborn bunnies!!! What a wonderful treat to have spent 4 days at this impressive B&B. The kids were never bored with animals, trampoline, games and nature! A true holiday from Canada!

What a truly wonderful retreat. Set in the country with a European feel Blossom Cottage was truly wonderful. Where do I start ... . Decor with attention to detail, comfortable beds, kitchen facilities to accommodate cooking. Outside, wonderful country setting with all manner of wildlife and domesticated animals - donkeys, chickens, cats rabbits and a lamb. At night, a Hot Tub under the stars with nothing around but farmland and bush. The best part, when you go to bed there is no intrusive light and noise, what noise the best sleep I have had in ages. The hosts Marianne and Rene were wonderful, providing fresh eggs and other treats but thoughtful enough to leave us to relax and enjoy ourselves. Definitely recommend this place, close to the action but far enough away to allow you to relax.

We stayed for 2 nights with another couple in late July and were totally impressed with the generosity and charm of this property. The property is easy to find thanks to great, clear instructions provided in advance and the cottage itself is just lovely. Very very clean, great decor and so much attention to detail! The hot tub was fantastic, as were the provisions - the breakfast and baking were divine! Then there's the info for location attractions and activities, electric blankets, friendly notes, magazines, dvds... so many small touches that made the place just great!

We are usually late risers but loved getting up early to see the sun come up over the fields and to visit the chickens, bunnies and donkeys. We'd then look forward to coming home to a hot tub at night under the stars. The clear air was a nice change from the odd odour given off by the thermal activity in town!

Thank you so much Marianne and Rene for a wonderful stay! We hope to stay again soon!

Room Tip: There are 2 rooms in the cottage - one larger one with a Queen bed and a smaller room with two king...

We didn't think four days could be so rejuvenating! We loved everything about our stay. The cosy cottage, the goodies provided, fresh eggs we could collect everyday, the cute animals, hot tub.. It is only three minutes walk to The Farmhouse horse riding place, were my daughter and I had a lovely 1 1/2 hour ride. Dad and son went off to do Quad biking at a local place and came back beaming! The kids played soccer until late, or we played volleyball together. The hosts, Marianne, Rene and kids were just lovely. The place is a credit to them. Loved it! Many thanks.

We stayed here for 4 nights during the school holidays - my partner, myself and 2 kids and we loved it. Its very warm, friendly, peaceful and a great retreat. The views from the cottage are stunning and there is a lovely friendly vibe here. The kids really loved the donkeys and chickens and rabbits and it was a treat to go and get fresh eggs in the morning and to let the chickens out. It is very close to Rotorua town and the luge and all the fantastic things to do in the area, and at the same time its a lovley retreat - welcoming and relaxing. We enjoyed the hot tub on the deck during the day and at night time with a view of the moon and stars, and the cottage is full of great things, toys, books, dvds and lovely breakfast goodies. The kitchen is very well equipped and the beds are warm and comfortable. Loved staying here - thank you!
