“Central American heaven!”
Reviewed February 15, 2013

The fish tacos are to die for having recently visited south and Central America we wanted something to refresh our taste buds this valentines day and it was perfect. Margaritas were strong services was good, although a few more smiles from the girl behind the bar would have been nice. OverAll really nice for a small restaurant.

“Amazing margarithas”
Reviewed February 9, 2013

Lovely drinks, though quite strong. Food also quite good. My starters were very tasty but bit on a salty side and enchilladas a bit burnt though still very tasty.

“Great simple Mexican food.”
Reviewed January 27, 2013 via mobile

Great cafe food. The food has some great flavours and the portions are good, and quality good. They do a good mohito (more limes maybe!?) and the service was friendly and really fast. If there was one thing to change it might be to slow the service down. It felt like food was ready a little too quickly and we were in an out in an hour!

“A Corner of Latin America in Rotorua”
Reviewed January 20, 2013

With just 28 covers, this restaurant quickly reaches full capacity, so booking is advised, particularly in high season. The food covers the diverse regions of South America, so cannot be categorised into any particular country or cuisine. Sarah, the friendly owner, took time to explain the various dishes on the menu, and the daily specials. All the food was very tasty, but not particularly spicy, as most Kiwis are not accustomed to spicy food. However, for fans of the hot stuff, three bottles of firewater (no, not whisky) are at the guests´disposal: Red Rooster Hot Chilli Sauce, Hot Lips Alapeno Sauce and last, but by no means least, Flame Thrower Extra Hot Sauce. I tried the first two and they were very good, but I chickened out on the third. Do read the humourous labels on the bottles! Currently, Sabroso is number one on TA in Rotorua and I think it fully deserves its position.
