My family of 5 stayed here for 4 nights and would recommend to everyone with family in tow. The lodge is located very close to some of the major rotarua attractions such as zorb, luge, gondolas etc. Karen was a very welcoming host and bakes some delicious muffins as a welcome. Unfortunately the weather was not as accommodating (rained for four straight days), but the kids loved the miniature horses and playground whenever there was a break in the rain. Road noise was at a minimum and there is no trace of the sulfurous smell that rotarua is famous for. Would defiantly recommend to all.

Hi guys, thanks for your super feed back. There is nothing more satisfying to us than to know that our guest had a fabulous time, even though the weather wasn't that accommodating. We do look forward to return, in the meantime have a great year. karen & Lindsay/

This lodge is perfect for families with kids. We have stayed twice and have decided we will always stay here when in Rotorua. The playground is fabulous and the owners gave the kids a ride on the horse and they fed the animals. The home baking is yummy and an unexpected treat.
The ability to cook your own meals with full facilities made it the perfect place for us and the kids are now asking to go back already!

Room Tip: All rooms are very good

This was our 3rd trip to Rotorua, but the first one where we have taken the kids with us. We normally stay in the motels in the heart of the city centre along Fenton street. But this time around we were on a strict budget.

After much googling I found Rotorua Hideaway Lodge and it looked perfect.

My 10 year old son absolutely loved the animals and the farm-like environment. He loved Tess the Dalmatian - and loved it when she followed him around. The playground and park-like setting kept us occupied when we were not out and about.

Our stay was over New Years when the big weather front hit the country - so we did spend a lot of time in our room and getting out in between big downpours, talking and petting the animals kept us happy and sane. Even the 13 year old girl loved the animals.

The unit was clean and self contained. We were able to cook our own meals and feel like we in a home away from home. We were provided with a fold out bed for our son.

The traffic noise was not bad at all, compared with the traffic noises and sulphurous smells if you were to stay in the main city centre - which are worse in my opinion.

Hi guys, thanks for reviewing us, much appreciated. Yes I am sure that Tess is missing your son too. I must admit that she is a people's dog and seeks them out, she was right in her element with your son. Anwyay you all have a great New Year, and hope to see yo back sometime, I know that Tess would love it. Happy travelling Karen & lindsay.

We were greeted with warm muffins and a jug of fresh milk for our tea. The Dalamation also escorted us around the property and made us feel very welcome. We got to feed the baby lamb and the alpaca. Our Hostess helped us make arrangements for the Maori Village Dinner and gave us great tips for seeing the local sites. The breakfast room had nice choices and the rooms were very comfortable. Such a nice, quiet location and very close to all the fabulous attractions of Rotorua! Can't wait to go back, and this time we will stay for a week!

H Anneka, thanks for your wonderful feedback. Yes you are right, it is a animals lovers dream isn't it. It is great to look out and see all the children enjoying themselves, so much so that some times they don't want to leave. Have a safe and happy year, and we look forward to your return some time soon!!!! Karen & Lindsay Ash

Excellent venue for children, so many activities for them to undertake you may never leave the lodge. In addition, the miniture horses were adorable- an animal lovers dream.
