We were greeted with warm muffins and a jug of fresh milk for our tea. The Dalamation also escorted us around the property and made us feel very welcome. We got to feed the baby lamb and the alpaca. Our Hostess helped us make arrangements for the Maori Village Dinner and gave us great tips for seeing the local sites. The breakfast room had nice choices and the rooms were very comfortable. Such a nice, quiet location and very close to all the fabulous attractions of Rotorua! Can't wait to go back, and this time we will stay for a week!

H Anneka, thanks for your wonderful feedback. Yes you are right, it is a animals lovers dream isn't it. It is great to look out and see all the children enjoying themselves, so much so that some times they don't want to leave. Have a safe and happy year, and we look forward to your return some time soon!!!! Karen & Lindsay Ash

Excellent venue for children, so many activities for them to undertake you may never leave the lodge. In addition, the miniture horses were adorable- an animal lovers dream.

I was on a trip to NewZealand with my friends from UK and Noumea and my son who lives in Dunedin.Rotorua was one of the best places I visited in NZ.
We stayed at the Rotorua Hideaway Lodge. The owner is extremely friendly. She gave us a lot of useful information about the visits in and around Rotorua.
We stayed in the cottage which is clean, very well maintained and has a superb ambience. The 2 friendly dalmatians added to the homeliness of the stay.
I have already recommended this lodge to my friends in Wellington who will be soon travelling to Rotorua.
Wish you all the best in your endeavour to promote the Kiwi hospitality.

We spent 2 nights on this unique property, in a 1 bedroom unit. Coming from a city, this motel experience was akin a country home we never had. Besides, Karen's welcoming gesture (basket of homemade muffins) was a differentiating factor.

The children loved the ingenious playgrounds and friendly farm animals. We fed the miniature horses carrots and were surprised that the dogs love carrots too!

The rooms are near the highway, so sounds of traffic broke the silence at night but hardly affected us. (If you leave the windows fully open in the summer, the traffic sounds shall be more obvious.) The beds were comfortable and we slept well.

Heating was very adequate. There is a heater in the living area, a portable heater in the bedroom and a wall-mounted heater in the toilet/bathroom - very nice as that minimizes the chill when you get out of the tub/shower.

The kitchen was well equipped and also has an oven that's great for warming Karen's delicious muffins.

Karen was very helpful with driving directions and accomodated our request for the children to have a ride on her dear horses. (The horse rides are only suitable for young children as the horses are miniatures.)

Overall, it was a memorable stay. Thank you Karen.

You are most welcome, great to hear that the children had a great time. Its great to know that the children enjoyed the horses rides and the ingenious groundround, of a kind isn't it???? In the meantime you all have a great year, and happy travelling. We look forward to your return in the near future.
Warmest Regards, Karen & Lindsay
