We stayed two nights at Shula's Lake House last week. We required a late arrival, and Ginnie and Bob were totally accomodating to our needs. We are vegetarians, but that was no problem for Ginnie--our breakfast both days was excellent and filling. The room was very comfortable and the views of the lake were perfect. We wanted to stay at the edge of the lake to avoid the anticipated sulfur smells, and it wasn't a problem at Shula's Lake House. We really appreciated the good advice from Ginnie and Bob about what to see and do in the local area. We'd definitely spend more time there if the opportunity presents itself.

Room Tip: This is a private home with rooms available so people staying here should like that type of B &...

My first experience ever staying at a B&B was one that makes me want to stay at more and more in the future. Staying in Ginie's home in the panoramic suite just several feet from the lake was such a positive experience in every way. It was our first stop in New Zealand. Ginie spoiled us for the rest of the trip with her amazing breakfasts including fabulous pastries, crepes, frest fruit, yogurt, wonderful cereals, eggs, bacon, etc., etc. -- the best we had in our 17 nights in New Zealand. The accomodations were very spacious, with separate living area from bedroom and large balcony with beautiful views. It was an easy less than 10 minute drive into town -- other than having to drive on the opposite side of the road. Ginie was a wonderful and very helpful host -- could not have asked for more. Definitely worth the extra money to stay in the panoramic suite. Loved it!

Room Tip: Panoramic suite is the way to go -- well worth the extra money.

We stayed 2 nights and if we pass through Rotorua again we would definitely stay with Ginie again. Lovely comfortable room with beautiful view. Breakfast was freshly made with excellent choices. Our weather wasn't great and it was great having some heating in the bedroom and lounge.

Room Tip: Had chosen the smaller room but it was plenty big enough for the 2 of us.

We stayed 5 nights in the panorama suite and are very very glad we came across this place.
1. Lake view was wonderful. Every window was like a picture by itself.
2. Ginie and Bob were very very welcoming and helpful. Ginie cooks the most excellent breakfast and she was very flexible with the timing of when we wanted it served.
3. Excellent location! Close to all the attractions and 10min away from the Rotorua town centre. (This is very important to note! No matter what budget you are on, try to stay away from the Rotorua town area...it smells horribily of sulphur due to all the thermal activites close by.)
We would love to visit again.

Room Tip: The panorama suite upstairs is wonderful. Spacious and has separate sitting area plus balcony.

My wife and I booked 2 nights at Ginie's place. We stayed at the upstair room which has a nice sitting area and a balcony. Both of us enjoyed the stay very much. Ginie's was very friendly and helpful. She served us good breakfast :) Thank you, Ginie. We are looking forward to coming back again. / E&T

We had a wonderful 2 day stay at Shula's Lake House. Our upstairs accommodation was excellent with bedroom and separate sitting area. Ginie and Bob were most welcoming - snacks and beer on arrival, use of their kayak on Lake Rotorua - and the breakfasts were superb. It would be great to return

We spent 3 nights at Shula's Lake House in Rotorua and enjoyed our stay thoroughly. We stayed upstairs in the Panorama Suite which provided lots of room for 2 adults, a 14 and a 10 year old.
Ngongotaha is a small town 5 minutes from Rotorua but Shula's is close to all the attractions there are to see in Rotorua.
Ginie and Bob, the hosts, were very helpful and even provided breakfast 2 of the 3 mornings at 6:30 am to accomodate our touring and golf schedules. Our kids thought the pancake breakfasts were one the best we had on our month long tour of NZ. We enjoyed the opportunity to use their kayaks to paddle on Lake Rotorua and warm up afterwards in the hot tub.
The view of the lake is beautiful and we especially enjoyed seeing all the black swans.
We took advantage of their no cost long distance calling and appreciated having free access to the internet.
We would definately stay again if ever we are back in the Rotorua area.
