A really delightful trip which opens up a brilliant view of the landscape allowing you to see the row of volcanic mountains and lakes. The six seater plane was ideal and the staff in the reception and the plane were all charming. We had explanations about the lakes, where some are hot, some high purity and some sulphurous.
We booked the half hour trip, but that actually ran to 45 minutes.

Thank you for your review and we are very happy you enjoyed your flight. Our flight time (time in the air) is 30 minutes so the extra time of loading and taxiing ends up being around 45min, and we agree it is a beautiful view of the landscapes

We had booked for Whakaari/White Island /Mt Tarawera helicopter tour in December 2019 but Volcanic Air worked with us to change this to another tour. Their communication with us was exemplary. We thoroughly enjoyed our flight and our pilot Brian was fantastic. He was calm and confident and we felt in good hands. I would recommend this trip to anyone. It is something that myself and my friends from the UK will always remember.

We had a ‘once in a lifetime’ experience on Saturday 7 December. The crew of Ryan and Sam provided us with a day we will never forget. The entire experience was professional and personal and the pilots were amazing. It was with some shock that I saw the eruption on Monday and I understand that the crew and passengers of Volcanic air are safe but that the chopper was damaged. Thoughts with the families affected by this and best wishes for Volcanic Air going forward.

My husband and I did the White Island/Mount Tawawera Dual landing on November 12th, and this was probably the highlight of our entire New Zealand trip. Our pilot/guide, JB was amazing and would highly recommend him. He flipped our itinerary so we landing on Mount Tawawera first because bad weather was supposed to come through later and he wanted to make sure we were able to land and summit the volcano. We then headed over to White Island, which is just unbelievable, you truly feel like you are on another planet. JB's knowledge on both volcanoes was great, he provided so much information and fun facts about everything and answered everyone's questions. We spent a long time here, but I could have spent longer easily. We lucked out and went in the morning and had both volcanoes to ourselves, which was unbelievable. We got full views of White Island from the ground and then again by helicopter. JB even noticed some splashing in the ocean on the way back and did a few laps around for all of us to see what was going on. It was a giant pod of trout, but he made sure everyone got a good view. If you are in the Rotorua area, I highly recommend this activity, you will not regret it, absolutely worth the investment! We would do it again if we ever went back!

This was truly a fantastic experience, from beginning to end. The staff was very welcoming and friendly, and our pilot and tour guide, JB, was wonderful. The flights to and from White Island were most definitely the highlight of the trip (at least for me, an aviation nerd), but the time on the volcano itself was truly spectacular as well. On the way back to Rotorua we even saw a whale, and JB maneuvered the helicopter to give everyone a great view
