“Its a great place to look free hot pools!!!”
Reviewed June 20, 2011

I think its a great place to go to if you would like to see some of rotorua free mudpools and hot pools, and on a saturday they have a little flea market down there where you can get fresh fruit and veges or a hot bite to eat, while the ids play on the play ground there. Just dont go there at night, for reasons prefre not to go into, and be a little weary about putting your feet into the foot bath there....

“Waste of time”
Reviewed February 20, 2011

We have a 5-year old so we tried to take advantage of as many parks as possible. This one was not worth the time. It was very dirty and the thermal areas were not interesting. While it didn't take much time to find we stayed only a couple of minutes before moving on. We do not recommend wasting any time on this park.

“If you're in Rotorua with kids, this is a MUST SEE”
Reviewed July 21, 2010

I was hesitant to visit Kuirau Park due to a reviewer's comment about being asked for money by youth, but decided to give it a try anyway. I am so glad we did! It is a lovely public park that gives you a little taste of the real Rotorua, away from the tourist attractions and shops. Park for free in the street by the playground, and walk your way around the steaming pools and bubbling mud holes. Cross a lovely foot bridge, see a lovely steaming pond, and soak your feet in one of the geothermally heated pools designed for that purpose. Then, let your children loose on the playground expansive playground with a HUGE climbing feature -- they'll love it! In fact, until we visited the Skyline/luge attraction, my kids had declared Kuirau Park their FAVORITE New Zealand destination so far! They still talk about it and want to return when we're able to get back. Although the bathrooms were a little smelly, they were pretty much clean and well stocked, even in July when we visited. I didn't notice garbage lying about, or gangs of threatening kids. I'm glad we went and will return again.

“Kuirau Park Rotorua NZ”
Reviewed March 11, 2010

Great Little Termal spot in Rotorua off Kuirau Street. Lots of bubbling mud pools ans steam. Boarded walkways over bigger boiling pools of water. Not all are photogenic as people have thrown bottles and pieces of wood into the pools. Covers quite an area andis very interesting. Some birdlife in the area. We saw Chafinches and Tui.
