Vivien was a charming knowledgeable hostess, welcoming us into her home with freshly baked muffins and ideas on how to make the most of our all too short visit. She booked our visit to Te Pui and even took my specs in to be mended while we enjoyed the redwood forest and buried village.

Finally getting around to writing an overdue review having spent the last few hours scouring TA for help with another trip ... and felt I should give my contribution to the TA community.

This B&B was wonderful. Immaculately clean and the hostess could not be more accommodating. After a lovely welcome, showing us around, she left us alone. It may have helped that we were the only ones there but one of the reasons I tend to shy away from B&Bs is the 'forced' socialising so this was a good thing.

The place was nicely furnished, not too flowery at all and CLEAN. I am a clean freak so this was important. Breakfast was fab and Vivian hit the right balance between giving us our space and being attentive. And she sent us off with a coupon for the nearby sulphur pools.

Absolutely no hesitation in returning here.

Note: we actually visited in May 2011.

You are met by the lovely Vivien who welcomes you into her home with open arms and then sits you down to freshly baked muffins and tea or coffee.
Nothing is too much trouble for her and her vast knowledge of the area is invaluable. Just tell her what you would like to see and do and she will help in anyway she can, even booking tours and admissions for you. And also another plus factor is her wonderful cooking.

A lovely place to stay while exploring Rotorua. The room was crisp, clean and very comfortable with its own decking overlooking the garden. Upon arrival, even had Mauri song drifting across from a nearby community hall. Vivian & Peter were wonderful helpful & friendly hosts with great attention to detail including tea & cakes when we first arrived and some great breakfasts! Vivian even came to the rescue by driving us to a local Mauri cultural centre when their shuttle bus failed to pick us up.

This b&b is very close (walking distance) to the Redwoods forest, which features nice trails and an outlook point over Rotorua, the lake and two big geysers.

It's a peaceful, relaxing place.

Vivian and Peter are lovely, helpful, very dedicated hosts.

Breakfast is excellent and there are always snacks available in the living room (which is a common space).

Rooms are large and well appointed. Some of them do not have a key but this is fairly commons in NZ B&Bs. Some drawers appeared to be occupied by owner's stuff, but then again, this is fairly normal in a B&Bs.

Well where to start. We loved every minute of our stay at the Redwoods from the lovely warm welcome (with homemade cake, tea and lots of info for our stay), the local expert knowledge of both Vivian and Peter, the beautifully appointed rooms and amazing breakfast. They told us about a few "off the beaten track" locations during our stay...places we would never have found without his help and some of the highlights of our trip to Rotorua.

The B&B is in a fab location if you love the great outdoors...just a few minutes stroll to the Redwood forest, an amazing place, and a short car journey away from some of the prettiest lakes to swim in. There is also the option of walking into Rotorua which took us around 30 minutes. However a taxi back from the town is only around $10 so either way everything is on your doorstep.

Peter and Vivian couldn't do enough to help us during our stay. In fact I left my necklace in the bathroom when we moved on. Before I had even realised Vivian had emailed me and suggested to post it to one of our following destinations. Sure enough I had my necklace waiting for me at the accommodation I had asked her to post it too (on the south island) and at no extra charge. Vivian you are a star!

Beautiful house, beautiful service and beautiful people! Thank you for making our first few days in New Zealand that little bit more special!

We usually stay at our friends when we come to Rotorua but due to their full house with stayed at Vivian's. It was so comfortable and easy. A comfortable bed, room large well appointed and a great breakfast. It was literally home away from home. Vivian was so helpful and accommodating without being intrusive. we will defintely be staying here again.
