We were in New Zealand visiting friends and had decided to tour the north island for 8 days. Unfortunately we only stayed at Lake House for 2 nights. What a fantastic find.

Ken and Carol are wonderfull hosts, nothing too much trouble. Carols afternoon tea of fresh home made scones and jam were just what the doctor ordered after a full day sightseeing in Rotorua.

Waking up every morning to views over the lake were wonderfull. Be sure to try the spa pool.

A fantastic bed and breakfast - you will not be disappointed.

Although not kiwis by birth, Carol and Ken of The Lake House B&B embody the high standard of hospitality we encountered during our stay in New Zealand, plus some!

Carol would fall over herself to entertain any whim of her guests and both ensure that very well-considered holiday advice is always on hand. Every potential need of a guest has been thought through, and you'll never be left wanting for comfort, refreshment or activity.

The bedrooms are plush and well-appointed, breakfasts are superb and our particular highlight was the spa room, with the large hot-tub a very welcome relief after a day out and about in Rotorua.

The house is charming and has an amazing lake frontage, which more than makes up for the distance from the town centre (and also reduces the effects of Rotorua's notorious smell!). We didn't have a chance to kayak the lake, but on a good day it looks very inviting.

I couldn't speak more highly of this place. A holiday highlight.

We toured the North & South islands for 20 days and thoroughly enjoyed our 2 nights at the Lake House. The location and breakfasts were excellent .We found Ken & Carol welcoming and a helpful couple who made some excellent recommendations for visits and eating out. We loved the spa unfortunately we did not have time to enjoy the kayaks. Would definitely stay there again if we are fortunate enough to be able to visit New Zealand again.

Travelling with Sue (who has MS) is always difficult but we planned to see a bit of NZ this time while visiting our daughter near Opotiki. Webooked 2 nights, then added a third and a fourth. I think that Carol thought we were never going to leave.

The Lake House was a unique experience, surpassing all expectations. Nothing was too much trouble; the level of anticipation of guests' needs was extraordinary; everything was done to make our stay comfortable and stimulating. We had stunning views, great food, a beautiful room with fresh flowers and invitations to join our hosts in the lounge for pre-dinner drinks. Ken and Carol were even happy to lend us their kayaks to row across the lake to Rotorua. We had high expectations as a result of our six week stay in New Zealand but nothing prepared us for this level of thoughtfulness.
