The mood of the falls change depending on the amount of recent rain. They can be gentle and pretty or thunderous and angry. The falls can be viewed from both sides by using the bridge on the road just above the falls. You can visit with just a 2 min. walk from the carpark at the falls or by a lovely, gentle hour and a half walk from the Treaty Grounds. If you don't want to walk back to the Treaty Grounds transport can be a challenge! If you are driving by the falls are well worth a ten minuite stop over.

It's an easy walk from the car park although if you have the time there is a longer, more scenic walk from the Waitangi Treaty House grounds. Didn't really live up expectations but that could be due to lack of rain. Not the best waterfall but worth a look if you're passing.

Maybe it would have been better by canoe. You really could only see them at the top, at the bottom you are too far away and are lurking at the entrance to accommodation. Also we had been spoilt bt the Huka Falls at Lake Taupo so it wasn't suprising that they couldn't match up

We walked the paths on these falls, and were lucky enough to be able to watch the people in their canoes coming up the river to the falls.
