“Cape Reinga, Breaking the Bounds of Earth with Manu”
Reviewed January 25, 2014

It could not have been a more perfect day. Our pilot Manu, was great. His great personality and knowledge made the flight even more wonderful. I think we had about two hours in the Jet Ranger flying over beautiful country, beaches and rugged coast line. This was all topped off by a great lunch a a small lodge and a flight around our cruise ship. Thanks Manu and Salt Air.

“Great afternoon exploring the Bay of Islands and beyond”
Reviewed January 25, 2014

We took the 4 1/2 hour fixed wing aircraft package which flew us from Keri Keri airport (picked up at the Paihia office) up along the west coast and then back along the east coast out over the Bay of Islands. Included a drive from the airstrip up north to the Cape Reinga Lighthouse, afternoon muffins and a cuppa at a quiet beach and then the opportunity to sand board on the huge sand dunes near 90 mile beach.
It was a great afternoon adventure and compared to the cost of a 30 minute helicopter flight out over the islands it was great value.
Dan, the pilot, gave an informative commentary during the flight and Joyce, the van driver up north, was lovely and really chatty about the area and life in general.
Highly recommend it for fantastic views, fun activities and good value.

“Amazing scenic flight”
Reviewed January 15, 2014

In Paihia for short break we wanted to get up to Cape Reinga but didn't fancy the early start and an 11 hour journey by bus and I wasn't keen on driving up. We came across the Salt Air Office near the Pahia Wharf who were very helpful and we finally chose their Cape Reinga Scenic Flight. On the day of the flight they bussed us three and the other four passengers out to Kerikeri Airport and the plane at 12.30. Taking off our pilot Daniel headed north to Whangaroa Harbour before zigzagging up the West Coast to a landing strip at Waitiki, where he then drove us by mini bus up to Cape Reinga. A really dramatic place to visit with clouds forming as the breeze hits the hills and the Seas churning. It was then on to Taputaputa beach for afternoon tea the a short drive out to the Te Paki sand dunes for some tobogganing, great fun. Back to the plane we took off and flew down the East coast down to the Bay of Islands before landing back in Kerikeri. Daniel kept up an informed commentary throughout the flight. Salt Air had us back in Paihia around 6.00pm. Absolutely blown away, amazing day.

“Awesome Roundtrip to Cape Reinga”
Reviewed January 14, 2014

We did a roundtrip on a fixed wing plane in 2008 with Salt Air, and it was just amazing...seeing the bay of Islands on the way to the norther end of New Zealand while getting many informations from our tour guide, and enjoying the flight back over the 90 mile beach...just perfect. Our tour was originally scheduled for the next day, but as the weather forecast wasn't good for that day we got the chance to pre-schedule our trip to the same day that we arrived...luckily our B&B hosts wife was working for Salt Air and put one and one together....the next day the weather was rainy and clouded, so that our trip wouldn't have been as amazing. Upon landing we got picked up by a car and brought up to Cape Reinga, where we had plenty of time to enjoy the landscapes and had a tea on the beach before we returned....a trip worth every cent we paid :-)

“Cape Reinga & Northland Fly/Drive Half-Day Tour”
Reviewed January 13, 2014

All we have to say is- wow!! This is a must when visiting the Bay of Islands. It is truly the best way to get up to Cape Reinga and is worth the price. The day was amazing and the flights were one hour each way as well as visiting Cape Reinga, swimming at a private cove/beach and sand-boarding with a local guide. My husband and I had the most incredible day! Highly recommend :-)
