We recently stayed in this apartment. The room is presented well and within walking distance to the wharf. We were disappointed the room we were given was next to a pub /backpackers and had loud music playing till 1am.

Room Tip: Get a room away from the pub/backpackers

We stayed in a 2 bedroom Admirals View unit and also a 1 bedroom Admirals View unit. Both were well presented, great views over the bay, and reception staff were very helpful and obliging. The car park is secure but a bit tricky to manouvre. The location is within walking distance of the shops, restaurants and wharf. We would stay there again.

Room Tip: Front units to the north side are next to a bottle shop carpark and are a bit noisy in the early eve...

My sister treated us to our 5 night stay at Edgewater Palms and we shared a superbly fitted out two-bedroom apartment at the front of the block, which meant that we had wonderful views out over the Bay towards Russell. The apartment had everything you would need and felt bigger than some houses in the UK! In fact, I could easily have made it my full-time home. It boasted everything you could ever need + more. The only slight gripe was that although the front bedroom had tons of storage space, there was no chest of drawers in the second bedroom, which meant that we had to live out of our cases for the five days. However, this didn't spoil the overall experience, which was luxurious to say the least. The apartments are only a short walk from the centre of Paihia and there is secure off-street parking (underground). Finally, mention must be made of Nicky, the manager, who was incredilby friendly and helpful - nothing was too much trouble. I just wish I lived closer so that I could return more easily!!! Thank you for a memorable stay in a stunning part of New Zealand.

We stayed at Edgewater Palms in the middle of November 2011. The rooms are impeccable and very spacious with all of the comforts of home. The view is fantastic and the rooms were nice and quiet. This pet friendly accommodation enables pet owners to still enjoy a bit of luxury while they are away. The service is outstanding and our hosts ensured that every aspect of our stay in Paihia was enjoyable. Thank you for a perfect weekend away!!

The accommodation here is top notch, we stayed in a 2 bedroom admiral view for 2 nights which was modern, spacious, functional and clean. The location is great and so close to everything, we just parked the car in the undercover parking and walked everywhere. Edgewater Palms are great but the most outstanding aspect are the staff. We felt extremely welcome and were continually given help and advice on local attractions, eating places and other questions we had. They even booked the boat cruises for us and were more than happy to do so. Can not recommend Edgewater any more highly, sensational accommodation with outstanding hosts.

Room Tip: We loved the admiral view, great to sit on the balcony and look out to the bay

What a bottler! We stayed at the Edgewater Palms first week of November, 2011. We were tired and in need of a decent break, but so bogged down with rubbish from work and home that we couldn’t think straight on what to do at Paihai. We'd had a wet trip the day we arrived, so next morning while the weather was good we wanted to get a taste of what New Zealand is all about. We knew we wanted to experience the culture but didn’t know where to start. We thought we’d get advice from the office on how to fill out day. Ben suggested we do Waitangi Treaty Ground http://www.waitangi.net.nz - it was beautiful. The guides were informative and we had great weather. The cultural show was intimate and cultural. Lunch was yummy. Took heaps of photos. Drove up the look-out then Harara Falls. Next big outing Nicki and Ben suggested was the Cape Reinga bus trip. It was fantastic. See our story below. We were only at Edgewater a week, but we filled every day with as much as we possibly could. We feel we got a good feel for the locals, the area and the cultural beliefs. Each outing we went on, the guides or boat drivers had great commentary. The accommodation was outstanding and Nicki and Ben and family were so friendly. Each day we dragged ourselves through the gate after our big day out, they were there to greet us and ask how our day went. We did the Ferry to Russell, a sky dive, Great sights cruise to Russell and the hole in the rock, day drive along coast to Helena Bay cafe and Gallery then shopping at Waitangi, jet boat ride out and through the hole in the rock then into a cave, dinners at lovely restaurants, the best being Alfresco's right next door! and a drive over to the west coast which was totally different – plus more - a great experience all round. The night before we left, at 3am, we were trying to plot how we could wangle an extra week (or month) there. But – had to get home to Oz to work! We kept our brochures so we could plan things for our next trip, but if you are stuck for something to do, go into the office and let them work out your day for you. That’s what we did – you won’t regret it.

Room Tip: We stayed in room number 5 towards the back of the lot. The back fence backs on to a couple of up ma...

We are a family of 4 travelling with 2 teenagers and had come up from Auckland during the RWC for 3 nights. We thought we had a good deal in Auckland but this was even better. Overall the accommodation is unbeatable for our whole NZ holiday and even made more incredible as such places are rarely discounted for the type of facilities provided. Understandably so as it may attract a different type of holiday maker and run the risk of the place being thrashed. The prices did go up once the NZ school holidays started. We obviously relied on past reviews which were true and true to their compliments. The only minor thing is that if you look at the overall place and what it provides it should come with providing heating for the pool otherwise it will really testing to have a swim.

Room Tip: Ocean view is great. Probably cost a little more.
