My girlfriend and I stayed for 3 nights in Aug 2013, the views were amazing both lower and upper rooms. Ken and Lyn were extremely friendly and helpful. If you are looking for a place with quality and friendly Service, Breakwater Motel cannot go wrong !

Room Tip: Most rooms have sea view, but makes sure what type of Sea View it is.

My husband, myself, our daughter and son-in-law and 4 year old grandson stayed 5 nights here in August. We had two adjacent sea view suites which must surely have been the nicest in the motel (rooms 5 and 6), as they were on a rise (so a fine view of the sea), and had patios and a little lawn outside the back doors so our grandson could run about a bit (and go from one room to the other!).

The suites are compact and well-designed: the living room has a kitchenette with hob and microwave, and a good-sized table, plus a sofa bed and 2 easy chairs. The sofa bed is comfortable enough for 2 adults (if, as my daughter did, you decide to leave the bedroom to the children so that the adults can have a drink and chat or read after the children have gone to bed.) The bedroom has a large, comfortable double bed, and there is a TV in both rooms. Everything is spotlessly clean and well provided with the necessities. The bathroom is spacious with a large shower cubicle. There's underfloor heating, heat pumps, and heated tower rails - we were never cold.

The hosts are friendly and helpful and although we didn't use it, there is a laundry room and I discovered too late that it has a book exchange in it! The gardens are beautifully kept and look lovely.

It's a 4 minute walk into Paihia and between us we ate in 3 restaurants - all fine, there is heaps of choice, and you are only a 5 minute walk to the ferry to Russell and the start of several tours. There's a small, good children's playground a short distance away.

To note - most of my reviews now seem to be good because we never book anywhere without reading Tripadvisor first! We chose this motel because of the reviews and were not disappointed.

Room Tip: Rooms 5, 6 and 7 are in a row and up a slope with a great view and a little garden.

The hosts most accommodating, the rooms immaculate with lovely decor and a short stroll to restaurants and waterfront entertainment. Rooms have everything you need and if you want to cook you can, although only two elements no oven, not a problem though because plenty of alternative places to eat at reasonable prices. In all a most inviting place to stay, hence the reason we have booked for Labour Weekend which will be our third stay since its been renovated.

Room Tip: room 1or 8

Dear Mary W

Thank you for sharing your comments from your recent stays at Breakwater Motel. For your interest, our Lower Seaview Suites do have a full kitchen which includes an oven. However the Waterfront Suites have magnificent ocean views so if you are looking for a relaxing break, I would certainly select the Waterfront Suite and one of the great nearby restaurants!

We look forward to welcoming you both back again to your favourite upstairs Waterfront Suite for Labour Weekend.

Kind Regards
Ken and Lyn

We had a lovely 2 night stay at this property in the July school holidays. We purchased a GrabOne voucher deal and for a 2 night stay it was fantastic value for money! The one bedroom sea view unit we had was a home away from home - it had everything we needed to cater for our family of three. I think a lot of thought has gone in to the facilities and amenities and they are of a very high standard - spacious bathroom, 2 tvs (one in the lounge and one in the bedroom), plenty of storage for luggage, a heat pump, a comfortable sofa bed, and a well equipped kitchen.

The motel operators are very friendly & accommodating with suggestions. The motel itself is in excellent order - newish, clean & well maintained. We stayed in accommodation that had a separate bedroom from the living. This was great as it allowed more living room. The room had a small, equipped kitchen, so if you wanted to stay in & cook you can with ease. We dined out, but had breaky in the kitchen.

Hi Pam 04

Many thanks for taking the time to review our Motel.

The Motel had a Total Refurbishment with no compromises and opened in April 2012. So we are modern, stylish and luxurious. The kitchens certainly do allow guests to have the option of either 'cooking up a storm' or simply making toast and coffee.

Look forward to seeing you again.

Kind Regards
Ken and Lyn

Dear Eileen WW

Delighted to hear you enjoyed your stay at Breakwater Motel. The Waterfront Suites offer the ultimate view of the sunrise across the Bay, either from the living area, balcony, garden or the comfort of your bed.

The laundry is a wonderful convenience for guests plus we have library/book exchange in the laundry and sofa couch for you to relax on if you so wish.

We look forward to welcoming you back to Breakwater Motel in October 2014.

Kind Regards
Ken and Lyn
