“A beautiful historic place”

A great and interesting place to visit in a beautiful and historic setting. The guided tour and the Maori cultural show are well worth experiencing. We could have spent a lot longer here. It is about a 25-30 pleasant minute walk from Paihia mostly along the waterfront, but you can drive there too!

The museum was excellent and it just got better as we then visited the Marae, the war canoe and took in a fantastic views of the Bay. There is a great little cafe on site too.

“Do not miss, a must see!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 20, 2013

A great experience, not to be missed. Pay the extra for the ultimate experience - guided tour and Maori cultural show, you won't be sorry. It is well worth the admission price.

Our guide was knowledgeable and engaging. He knew his stuff and explained the history of early settlement and the lead up the signing of the Waitangi Treaty in an interesting and informative way. It was thoroughly enjoyable.

The Maori cultural experience was great. Very entertaining. Again everything was explained well and gave a real insight into the Maori way of life. A member of the audience is asked to volunteer to be the 'visiting chief', in this case my husband, which added to the experience.
The singing and dancing rituals were really good and were over all too soon.

Great views from theTreaty Grounds too!
