We had the pleasure of staying at Marlin House as the guests of Lynda and Robert for Christmas. We were entirely pleased with the location and the accommodation. We also appreciated that our hosts were happy to spend time with us and the other guests. Robert's cooking was beautifully presented and his scrambled eggs were some of the best I can remember.

This was our very first B&B ever! And if this is the standard for the ones to come we are the most lucky people on earth. Great location, very nice and spotless clean rooms, but most important Lynda and Roger are great hosts. They gave us great tips to view the area, arranged a booking on The Cream Trip for us during the breakfast, we just had a chat with Lynda about our plans, when we enjoyed the delicious breakfast made by Roger, she informed whether there were still spots available (without asking us), and before we knew it, she booked it. Never had such a service oriented host before.
The breakfasts are just a feast, fresh fruits, a warm plate, delicous bread. Because the breakfast was so good we ask Roger to prepare us a dinner as well, and he certainly met the standard he set during the breakfast. We had a great meal and a lovely conversation after dessert. Thanks for the hospitality.
And if we are in New Zealand again, we at least have one accomdation on the list ;-).

We had the pleasure recently of staying with Roger and Lynda at their incredibly lovely home. Our two nights' stay, which were the last two days of our 37 day adventure were totally relaxing. Lynda even came looking for us in the car when she knew we were caught out in the rain! How thoughtful! They were able to give us first hand information on how to spend our last hours in NZ.
The super king sized bed in the Green Room was the most comfortable we have ever slept in even in our own home. The room was equipped with tea, cookies, a fridge, complete with milk for the tea! The complete breakfasts were most appealing both visually and delicious, and when warm, was served on the outside deck, overlooking the bay. They even delayed our breakfast time since we are not early morning people, so we were able to sleep in. We were ok with the walk, as they are not far up the hill. and the town is just 5 minutes or so from their house. We even got to see the wonderful Haruru Falls !!! Our last picture in NZ!
This was a great choice for us, and we are happy we stayed with them. THANK YOU BOTH!

Room Tip: The green room was perfect for us, and the bed is SUPER COMFORTABLE!!

Great place to stay in Pahia - park the car and then forget it, as you can walk everywhere in Pahia from Marlin house, and also trot down to the ferry to go across and see Russell. And it's just a 3 min drive from Waitangi. The owners, Lynda and Roger were extremely welcoming, and full of great ideas for things to do. All the room are beautifully decorated, and absolutely huge. The ensuite was small-ish but fine for a couple for a few days. The gold room has a bath, the other two only have showers, so that might be important when choosing a room. Everything was spotless, and the room was equipped with useful things you might need (fridge, tea, plates, wine glasses........) Great views from the deck outside each room. Breakfast was served on the upstairs deck with more fabulous views over the bay. Great choice of food for breakfast, cold cuts, cereal, fruit platter, and cooked items - we definitely didn't starve!! Very enjoyable stay, we hope to return. One thing to bear in mind - if you are disabled/have walking difficulties, this may not be the place for you as there are steps throughout.

Lynda & Roger were wonderful to stay with during our family holiday around the North Island recently. We had 3 rooms. Each were very comfortable with their own sitting room areas, lovely home touches in the bathroom and kitchen amenities. Just right for us all to have our own privacy, but large enough to join together for a glass of wine!
In addition to the cooked breakfast daily, Roger (a chef by trade) kindly cooked us a dinner one night which was delightful.
Being situated up a slope, the views of the Bay of Islands was a delight to wake up to.

We were greeted by host Roger and Lynda and they made us feel welcome and at home. The room was beautiful and so was the bedroom. Breakfast by "Chef" Roger was excellent, fresh croissants and fruit every morning as well as eggs prepared the way you wished. The laundryservice was very good at a reasonable price. We loved oud stay here!

Room Tip: The blue room.
