“Cracking day trip”
Reviewed June 16, 2014 via mobile

Really good day trip that picks you up and drops you off again. My friend and I did the day trip (31years old) started of with a small bus run into a ancient forest and a nice little walk(stretch the legs)then onto taipa beach for a break( few beers) then another short run and a early lunch( to suite the tides for 90 mile beachside also a few more beers ) after lunch another short run up to cape reinga for the most amazing views I've ever seen with the two blue oceans meeting each other, was a sunny day too which helps:-) then another short run down to the sand dunes for body boarding, we had four runs each on the body boards which are supplied by the company (take a change of cloths and be kinda fit because the hike up the dune is a killer) then for a nice run down the burn in the bus and onto 90 mile beach. Stopped on the beach for 20 minutes (wish I had left my wet cloths on so I could if had a proper dip in the ocean)collected some clams from the sand then onwards again for a short run to another we rest( to order the fish a chips) also this stop has an amazing staircase carved out of a tree, then it was onto to get the fish and chip can't remember the name of the place but it doesn't matter because the chips where frozen and I've seen a bigger fish in a bowl all for a whopping 18 bucks:-(
The tour guide which I can't remember his name (Maori guy) he was a very knowledgeable guy and told us a lot about new Zealand also a lot about his family history..
Would highly recommend this to all age groups but would take a pack lunch with you as the stops are a bit expensive for food and drinks..
All in though a cracking day and would do it again just for the views you see which you wouldn't in a car or camper van

“Lovely day with the sandboarding being so fun!”
Reviewed May 30, 2014

This was a really nice day out. The driver told us a lot and fitted the day around the tide so that we could drive on ninety mile beach. The sandboarding was brilliant fun and was great to get out of the coach and do something different. Cape Reinga itself is lovely and the fish and chips on the way home was great.

“Awesome Trip to Cape Reinga”
Reviewed May 1, 2014

Our family of four travel to Cape Regina on the Dune Rider. What a fantastic trip, worth every cent. We did have the perfect day, with our driver commenting on more than one occasion that we could see things not often seen as the day was so perfect. Driving up the beach and returing by road. Sand Boarding was awesome, first bus to arrive at the Dune and last to leave, so plenty of time to climb the Dunes!!. Our Driver was excellent, lots of great information. A big day out leaving from Paihia at 7.15am (collected from our motel) and returning at 6.45pm. Something you must do while in Bay of Islands. Lunch was provided along the way, very nice too.

Have trouble finding a 'best bit' of this trip. Our driver, Ryan, was excellent, funny and informative. Sand surfing a real highlight as well as the drive along 90 mile beach. Cape Reinga just gorgeous and to finish off the perfect day fish and chips in Mangonui. Long and exhausting but well worth it!

“Great trip with the Dune Rider”
Reviewed April 16, 2014

Three of us went on the dune rider to Cape Reinga and really enjoyed the trip. Paul the driver was great, had lots of humour and interesting facts about Northland. He spent time with people getting to know them and was able to answer other questions people had about the areal. Sand surfing was good fun for those who like speed and wet clothes.... Its a big day so be prepared but you have plenty of stops of interest along the way. Would recommend the Dune Rider to all ages.
