Wow, that was what we all first stated when we arrived. We had been "told" this place was beautiful, but as you know it's quite another thing to discover that it's true.

DO NOT MISS visiting this beach! We did not go with the tour, as we wanted the flexibility to stay as long as we wanted. Upon arrival we sat down and ate lunch, watching the birds float past, the seagulls crack open small clams and soaked in the atmosphere.

We then enjoyed a long walk along 90 Mile Beaches shores listening to the water lapping upon the sand, the cries of the birds and good company.
(I was spoilt, had my hubby and sensational cousins to share this with)

* There are no public toilets
* If you want to ride the dunes and see more of the area book a tour
* Take all your water, drinks, snacks and meals with you as there are not too many places you can buy from.
* Ensure your camera has plenty of memory cards or if "old school" loads of film...
* Put aside an entire day to really see everything and enjoy the scenery

We began kiwi experience heading north to the bay of islands. There were lots of activities on offer, but the cape Reinga trip was tipped as a must do so we booked ourselves on! The day was a highlight of our whole trip to NZ! With the tour to hug a tree in a forest, visit the lighthouse and gorgeous views, onto sand boarding and 90 mile beach, the day was amazing value for money! Would highly recommend to any traveller of any age

A busy and jam packed, but day full of fun. Driving on 90 mile beach was great fun. Highlight of the day was probably sand boarding. The lighthouse at the most northern point was quite special. Our driver Spike made the day.

A very good way to fully explore the amazing beauty of north NZ from the comforts of the tour bus' wide clear windows... The whole day bus tour might be a bit tiring but is definitely worth every minute spend on it... you get to experience the endless scenic drive on offer, the stunning cape reinga, the 90 mile beach bus ride, and the sand boarding on the dunes...
Again, I'm personally recommending the DuneRider bus...
comfy ride and Paul, the bus driver that time was full of fun for the duration of the tour....

I took the Fullers Great Sights / Awesome NZ day trip from Paihia, where we was picked up from our hotel at 7am and we got dropped off at the same spot again 12 hours later. It is a full fun packed day.

We made our way to the Puketi kauri forest where you can view giant Kauri tree's (but not the best I have seen in NZ - try the Tane Mahuta Waipoua forest) followed by the Ancient Kauri Kingdom before stopping for a buffet lunch (pre paid) at a near by restaurant of which I have forgotten the name of.

The buffet lunch consisted of NZ mussels, fried fish, potato wedges, vegetarian salads, vegetable spring rolls, fruit, cake, tea, coffee and water. The food was very tasty and was plentiful.

After lunch we went straight to Cape Reigna where we spent a couple of hours of free time, taking in the amazing scenery, walking down to where the Tasman sea meets the Pacific Ocean and the lighthouse. We also learned about the Maori Cultural significance of this area and much more of New Zealand's history via the commentry the driver provided.

We left Cape Reigna behind and headed to the Te Paki Giant Sand Dunes and Quick Sand Stream which was awesome. The driver negotiated the stream with ease and then gave us a lesson on how to sand board down the dunes. He choose a smaller dune so we could have more goes, as the walk up (even the smaller dunes) is hard on the legs and lungs and let us enjoy some sand boarding for quite a while (which was one of my favourite activities on my whole New Zealand adventure) before taking us to the Ninety Mile Beach.

We drove on to the beach and we had a stop, some people chose to have a paddle, a walk or a swim, then we headed down the beach at some speed. The driver kept a look out for any wildlife and even the BBC Top Gear program which was filming on the beach that week, but we saw nothing with the exception of a couple of private cars.

We arrived back at the Ancient Kauri Kingdom to freshen up and to get the coach washed before heding back to Paihia via Doubtless Bay where we made a photo stop.

The Tour varies as to which activity is done first and what time lunch is. You have to have either a very early lunch at 11 am or a very late lunch as it depends on the tide to which way around the tour is operated.

All in all we had a fantastic day and really enjoyed this tour, we thought it was well worth the money. The buffet lunch is extra and was also well worth the money.
