“Half Day Dolphins and Hole in the Rock”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 26, 2013

We thought this trip was well worth the money. We were lucky and had good weather, but dropping the mail enables us to get a good look at the islands. We saw a lot of dolphins and the hole in the rock was impressive. Unfortunately didn't get to swim with the dolphins, not sure how often you get the chance in winter. Hopped off at Russell on the way back for lunch and then free ferry ride back to Paihia....this was a great way to spend the rest of the day.

“Where do you start with our Combo Combo days of sun + fun + more”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 5, 2013

Okay me & my boyfriend had a great time in Paihia we were going to just do the Cape Reinga daytrip till where we stayed at a backpackers the Peppertree Lodge when Rosie pointed out to us your here for 3 days and we said to him we wanted to go to Cape & Russell as well then he pointed out why not do the combo, as he gave us then rundown so when we thought about it and just the Cape & the ferries return to Russell was so much $ then the fullers Combo was the only way to go we got extra a huge bonus by doing the combo we got a terrific 4 hour trip with dolphins, hole in the rock & just more dolphins & sunshine with views to die for, so from going to ask abut the cape we got the lot for a bargain price $ & like 3 trips for 1, plus a little bonus back from where we stayed at the Peppertree backpackers for booking with them just a good setup allround so big huge thanks to all at both ends of the purchase

“Fantastic journey to the far north of New Zealand”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 30, 2013

What a fantastic (but long) day we had on our trip to/from Cape Reinga with Fullers.

It did start off with a bit of a panic in that I hadn’t realised you were meant to call to confirm your reservation (I’d printed off the voucher months ago!) so was in a bit of a panic that we weren’t going to get picked up but thankfully I managed to call that morning and talk to someone who reassured me that we’d get picked up and to also let us know the bus was running late as someone had slept in!

We were picked up about 20 minutes later than scheduled and after a few more pickups were on our way north to Puketi Kauri Forest for a tree walk. After a comfort stop in Maunganui we headed north again to our early lunch stop (some cafe bar what felt like the middle of nowhere) before driving on to Cape Reinga. Breathtaking is the only way to describe the views at the Cape.

As we journeyed towards Ninety Mile beach, there was a stop along Te Paki Stream for those who wished to go sand boarding. Those that did so seemed to find it good fun after the knackering climb to the top!

Finally we reached what I’d been waiting for – Ninety Mile beach and the journey down was as good as I thought it would be. Scratch the driver managed to find some sand that was firm enough that we could stop at (just before the Hook) so that we could get photos of ourselves on Ninety Mile beach/the islands off the coast.

I did wonder why we’d pulled into Ancient Kauri Kingdom but while we were having a look around the place the bus got cleaned out so that all the sand was removed both inside and outside.

The final stop of the day was at the Maunganui fish shop where you picked up the food that you had ordered (either fish & chips or just chips for those non fish eaters) to eat on the bus before heading back to Paihia and being dropped off at our accommodation.

My only criticism was that the website said you could purchase the buffet lunch option on the day but that wasn’t offered to us at all. However after seeing the prices of where we did stop (and it looked like they just got a meal, no actual buffet) I am glad I didn’t pre-book that, just paid the prices when we got there of what you wanted to eat.

Hello ne_quine,

We would like to thank you for pointing out an oversight on our behalf - we have now amended the wording on the website. Hopefully it is clearer that passengers have the option to order a buffet lunch up to the day before they travel, or they can purchase lunch at one of the stops on the day.

It's brilliant to see that you had a fantastic journey to the Far North of New Zealand. The drive along the beach really is breathtaking.

Thank you so much for taking the time to write a review
