“Great stay”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 21, 2009

This is a wonderful place to stay! The rooms are very spacious and impeccably clean and attractively furnished. Our room had a beautiful bedroom, large living room and a fully equipped kitchen. It is about 4-5 km from the center of town which I think was a real plus. It was so nice coming back to this beautifully landscaped area after a busy day in town. The grounds are beautiful and we had breakfast on our own patio area overlooking the pool and gardens.
The hosts are extremely helpful and have excellent suggestions on what to see and where to eat. All for a very reasonable price.

Wendy and Fred gave us a warm welcome to their motel which has a scenic location in the hills just a few minutes drive from the waterfront. The rooms have been beautifully refurbished. We stayed in a studio chalet which opened out onto the landscaped gardens and giving easy access to the swimming pool.
The kitchen is quite well equipped and we enjoyed a picnic supper and a glass of wine watching the sunset over the hills. The setting is very tranquil and picturesque.

We had 4 marvellous nights in this beautiful place. The suite was gorgeous, spotlessly clean and comfortable. Wendy & Fred went out of their way to ensure we had a great time nothing was too much trouble. The gardens, pool & hot tub were immaculate. We wished we could have stayed MUCH longer.

We stayed here for 5 nights. We loved the Ash Grove. Very quiet, great pool, very relaxing, BBQ's available to cook up your own dinner at night. Enjoyed a glass of wine in the garden I would highly recommend the Ash Grove. It's not in the heart of Paihia, but a 5min drive and well worth it for the peace and quiet.

We have just returned from a week in the Bay of Islands. We stayed for three nights at this motel and it was really good. It was so lovely just to sit in the garden in the evening with a glass of wine, watching the sunset. The owners are very friendly but not intrusive and, on the one day it rained, lent us a DVD to watch. The room itself was clean and spacious and looked out over the garden and swimming pool.
You need a car if you stay here as it is a good hike into Paihia.
