“Perfect way to spend the day in Bay of Islands”
Reviewed December 23, 2012

Vanessa was great- very passionate about her job, marine life, and wildlife conservation- passed on some great knowledge.

Because it's a smaller vessel, you don't go as far as some of the 100+ people boats, but that's ok- the catamaran was just the right size. Since only 18 can swim with the dolphins at a time, I think you're better in the smaller boats.

For the $6 lunch, we got a coleslaw-type salad and sausage (veggie available) Water wasn't a drink option- just Coke Zero, sprite, beer/wine on our trip, so BYOWater. Perfect way to spend the day in BOI- even if you didn't get to see/swim with dolphins (we did). I liked that there was no cost difference whether you wanted to swim with dolphins or not. At the island- definitely do the small hike up the hill...well worth it for the beautiful views.

“Superb day out!”
Reviewed November 26, 2012

My husband and I did a day trip with the Carino crew. We were lucky in that the boat wasn't that busy so got plenty of space to move around the boat and have a good chat to both of the crew who handled the boat extremely professionally. They were both extremely knowledgeable and gave us huge amounts of information about the dolphins. We had a superb day out and saw plenty of dolphins playing and jumping and it was lovely to see them in their natural environment. Very good value for money and we had a lovely sail back to Russell. Well done Carino you gave us a day out to remember.

“What an enjoyable day!”
Reviewed February 21, 2012

Dont you love going on tours/attractions operated by people that are passionate about what they do. Vanessa's ' Carino' catariman is a great day out on the water ,on a lovely boat in a lovely part of the world. In 6 hours you will be sailing, swimmimg with dolphins, lunching, snorkeling, and generally soaking up the glorious scenary. It is excellant value for money . The boat is smaller that the other big cruisers. The crew have obviously been told to focus on making sure everyone has a great day.
They have been trained well!

“Lots of dolphins!”
Reviewed February 19, 2012

As explained by the crew, you may not always see dolphins or get to swim with them if they are feeding, have a baby, or fighting. This is the wild, and nothing can be guaranteed.
Lucky for us, we found a pod and were able to observe the dolphins for over 30 minutes. We saw amazing jumps and they came very close to the boat. Unfortunately, they had a baby and we were unable to get in the water. But still, it was amazing to see them up close and we were very lucky!
We saw a few penguins in the water, and had barbecued hotdogs and salad for lunch. Overall, this was a great trip.

“Best way to cruise the Bay of Islands”
Reviewed January 31, 2012

After searching for a trip to see the dolphins in the BoIs I came across Carino. I had been wanting to get out onto the water but was hoping to avoid the large tourist boats & get more of a sailing experience...and this was the ticket. The Carino is a lovely good sized cateraram with a friendly & entertaining crew. The captain Vanessa is great value, strong, informative & fun, she interacts with everyone throughout the day. Right from the moment you step aboard the Carino you know your in for a great day. Sails, dolphins, penguins, sea, islands, walks & snorkelling, topped off with a BBQ...what more could you ask for!
