“Bay of Islands perfection”
Reviewed January 30, 2010

This immaculate newly built bed and breakfast lodge nestles on the hill side and offers the best possible views of the beautiful Bay of islands. Breakfast is served in a very modern living room overlooking the bay. Hot tubs are available for all guests and there is an 'infinity' swimming pool enjoying the same fantastic view. The rooms are immaculate and comfortable.

The only slight drawback, which is the flip side of the wonderful view, is the 20 minute walk down into Paihia and the quite steep walk back.

Would happily stay again.

Finishing the Holiday here was such an amazing way to close it off - we had stayed in some great places, but this place takes some beating. The Hot Tub, the views, the gorgeous decor is just the business. We were gutted we just didn't find it sooner than we did! The breakfast on the balcony was amazing, the views are just breathtaking!!

Stayed here with my boyfriend in the Nest and my parents were in the Island View room. Mike and Alan were both very helpful suggesting restaurants and things to see and do. The infinity pool was very welcome after a day spent travelling up to Paihia and also after a day spent cruising the Bay of Islands. Great views across the Bay from the decks. My parents enjoyed having breakfast on thier deck overlooking the Bay whilst ours was served in the dining room of the house. Would stay again.

We stayed in the Retreat for a few days in November. Nice location on the outskirts of Paihia, on a hillside with stunning views across the bay. The Retreat is a very spacious two bedroom, two bathroom apartment with an open plan kitchen/lounge area. Nicely decorated and very good kitchen facilities (including a dishwasher). Nice touch that everybody can use the washing machine and dryer in the garage underneath (free of charge when we were there). Very nice hosts.

Arrived after a long drive from Auckland and were seriously impressed. Stayed in the "Island View" room which was reached by its own little flight of stairs down the side of the building. The room and bathroom were very modern and spotless, and the bedroom has a sliding glass door giving access to the deck with it's own private hot tub! Having a glass of champagne in there at sunset was amazing. I was lucky enough also to wake up just as the sun was rising across the bay and the sunrise was just beautiful. Breakfast was served on the deck - fruit, cereal and a cooked breakfast too with coffee and juice.
The centre of Paihia can be reached by a 10-ish minute walk (although the walk up the hill after a few drinks takes a bit longer!).
