“Great B & B!”

Excellent view from our room of the garden and river. The room and bathroom were both spacious, comfortable, immaculate, and stocked with goodies. Breakfast was delicious, especially the fresh-squeezed orange juice. Paul and Barbara are wonderful hosts who go out of their way to make you feel comfortable and provide you with all the information they can to make your trip a great one.

We had booked dinner with the owners before we arrived as we were going to be on the late side to go out. They sent Us sample menus to choose from which was great. They are not a restaurant so we all had to have the same meal which was fine as we found something we both liked.
The owners were very welcoming and offered tea, coffee or wine and some nibbles when we arrived.
We then got a tour of the grounds which included a visit to the alpacas and the chooks.
Dinner was very nice and our hosts ate with us which gave them an opportunity to tell us about the area and where we might like to go the next day.
Unfortunately as is the case with most home stays the prime rooms are double beds which did not suit us, so no river view, the room was cheaper though.

Room Tip: The river view room have their own deck/balconym

Friendly and very comfortable accommodation with a welcoming and relaxed vibe. Everything was top quality! Barbara was a superb host only too happy to help make the most of our visit to Northland. Highly recommended and definitely on the list to revisit again!

Room Tip: Rooms with a view of the River and gardens are just delightful!

Happy as can be, ( to music Ha ha ) Yes fantastic to be back at Morepork to see Barbara and Paul. (our 4th Visit )
Its all been said before, its still 5 * and more. Just read all others reviews and you will not be disappointed., all true.
We were there the full 7 nights, feel like part of the family. You are always introduced to new guests and soon feel at home.We were there for ANZAC day, special dinner ''party'' see photo.
A great night. Still found many places to visit, all easy drives from Morepork. Some re-visits and in more depth. We went out for meals only a few nights (too well wined and dined Hic Ha ha ).
Went to ''The Italian'' and ''Wharepuke'' both restaurants in Kerikeri Excellent I will also review,
Thank you again Barbara and Paul, Simple the Best.

After driving for 3 weeks throughout South and North Islands what a wonderful finale for our holiday to find this place. We cant really add anything more to the previous reviews except to say that Barbara and Paul were so welcoming and kind to us on our last 2 nights. Dinners were amazing , stunning gardens and beautiful rooms. Five star treatment all around. They deserve all the kind words that have already been said. Thanks again you two, it was a memorable couple of nights. Penny and Gillian

Room Tip: No need they are all wondeful

Morepork was our first B&B after leaving a 3+ week guided tour of parts of Australia and New Zealand. We decided to stay in New Zealand for another 3 weeks. The house, grounds, room were all great but it was Barbera and Paul that truely made the stay delightful. The house and room were immaculate, clean and welcoming. The breakfast was large and the 2 bottles of ice water delivered to our car each morning was an added bonus. Barbera and Paul helped arrange activities, gave us dinner suggestions and gave us ideas on what to do in other parts of the North island. The three nights we stayed were far too short for all there is to do in the area and we wished we would have stayed longer.

Morepork Lodge was our first B & B in NZ and our 4 night stay was perfect in every way. The large Riverside Room with huge ensuite and gigantic whirpool were spotlessly clean. The king bed was extremely comfortable. We loved the magnificent views of the rolling countryside dotted with sheep and cows. When taking a walk on the acreage, look for the tree with the Morepork Owl sign because, sure enough, there they were staring at us.  The breakfasts were made to order and included everything from delicious homemade musili, yogurt, and jams to eggs anyway you like them, pancakes, bacon, variety of breads, juices, endless coffee, and etc. Our hosts, Paul and Barbara, were delightful. We felt like we were staying with relatives. They greeted us when we drove up and helped carry luggage to our room. We had a " meet and greet" with wine, delicious snacks, and good conversation. The night we were to see the Maori culture show, Paul asked if we would like for them to prepare a Hangi dinner to help set the mood. Of course we said, "Yes!!" The meats and veggies were perfect, the table was covered in fern fronds with banana leaves for serving dishes, we wore lava lavas, and the banana and chocolate dessert was fun to make but better to eat. It was so much fun. Thank you Paul and Barbara for the wonderful stay and wonderful memories.
