We had popped by here as we were interested to visit NZ's oldest vineyard, having been charmed by the cellar door and the setting we decided to return in the evening for a meal. Upon arrival I was a little nervous that we were underdressed (having been travelling for 2.5 weeks) but the staff immediately welcomed us in a warm manner and showed us into the dinning room. We found the meals really well priced and sooo delicious! We pay more for not such good food at home in the UK so we were really impressed (we paid less than $150 for 3 courses and wine). If your in Napier, we strongly recommend you eat here!

This is just a superb place to have lunch, the venue is just beautiful, the food is great and the service is very good. This was one of the highlights of my visit to Napier and New Zealand.

I am hoping to go back to New Zealand next year and will certainly plan to visit The Mission again

Great Place!

Wow i was reluctant to dine at the Mission because i thought it would be very uncomfortable and extremely pricey BUT it was the total opposite, we sat outside on a cold afternoon for lunch but with the outside heaters it was very cozy and comfortable. I was surprised to find that the prices were reasonable especially being that the food was excellent and of high standards. The staff were very friendly from the time we got there to us leaving, even the staff in the wine tasting area were very nice and all very professional. Would definitely recommend this restaurant for any occasion.

We had lunch outside on a beautiful autumn day - we had mushroom soup which was awesome and the shrimp broth which was devine. We came back for dinner which was inside and we had the venison and lamb duo which was again devine and can definitely recommend the cheese selection. Of course you will need to sample the stunning wine to go with the meals!!! Fabulous location for a meal and a walk around the grounds if you are there for lunch or morning/afternoon tea.

My husband booked this place for my birthday. It was a Tuesday evening and lucky we booked as there were very few if any tables spare.
We arrived early and were asked if we wanted to sit down or have a drink at the bar, we chose to have a drink first and wandered out on to the lawn. The lights of Napier revealing themselves down the hill stunning!
On coming inside we were shown to our table, even though the place was full, the tables were positioned to enhance our privacy. The staff were so accomplished, both friendly without being intrusive, knowledgeable and helpful for food choice and wine selection.
We had 3 courses - the combination of flavours was just right, my husband had the duck for entree and the rabbit for main both done to perfection with out the sometime lingering heavy game meat experience. My wonton soup entree and lamb main were both exquisite. We chose a Mission Estate malbec to accompany our meal and were impressed by richness of the wine.
Then there was dessert mine arrived with Happy Birthday written delicately in chocolate sauce around the perimeter of my plate. A beautiful end to one of the best restaurant meals I have ever had. Cant wait for the next special occasion ( or maybe will just have to make one up )
