“Phenomenal!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 28, 2014

Have dined at numbers of 'rated' restaurants in the Napier/Hastings area and been pleasantly delighted at many of them. So how did the this restaurant slip by us in the past?. Tonight we encountered wonderful service that set us at ease on entry to the restaurant..as did the pleasant ambience of the restaurants music and table seating. Professional service, with genuine smiles and banter, went a long way in providing an expectation that would have been difficult to live up to if the meal did not come up to the same expectation. we were not disappointed. The shared entrée platter was superb....a delight of differing textures and tastes that had the taste buds tingling for more. The mains, hapuka fish for Anne and pork belly with a suttle mustard mash for me, were 'melt in your mouth' dishes that we have rarely encountered elsewhere...if at all. Sileni wine just added to the experience. Having to set aside the thought of desert as we had 'supped our fill' we were pleasantly surprised when the maître d presented us with a desert for two...now that is great service. We will certainly be recommending and revisiting this restaurant....sooner than later.... to sample other items on their menu.

“A very pleasant surprise”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 13, 2014 via mobile

OK so here is the bottom line. We did not feel like walking out for dinner so we ate in at the hotel. To our very pleasant surprise, the food was very good. The tomato soup and snapper were evening specials on the menu. Both were quite good as was the tempura shrimp starter. Whether the service was good or not so good depended entirely on the individual server. So, be patient and enjoy the food.

“As usual - EXCELLENT!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 4, 2014

Strange how little things and first impressions make such a difference in restaurants. When we walked into the Exchange Brassiere at the Scenic Hotel Te Pania the crisp white starched napkins immediately shouted, “You’ve come to the RIGHT PLACE!

We were part of a large group in the Art Deco Cafe Crawl and we were there for the entree. The service was slick and quick even though we were a large group and the food was excellent with beautifully balanced flavours – don’t ask me how they got them all out on time and hot but they did.

Once again we highly recommend the Exchange.

“Delicious food, professional service.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 23, 2014

I dined here as part of a large group at a function in conjunction with Napier's Art Deco Weekend. It was a very warm night so we were able to dine with all the doors open along the front of the restaurant looking out onto the activity on the Marine Parade. The staff were working to a very limited time frame but still managed to get us served with drinks and our main course seemlessly. (It was a progressive dinner so we were just here fr the main.) The tables were beautifully set and it's always a treat having linen serviettes in this day and age. The food was just superb. I had the pork and I know that "melt in the mouth" is a cliche but that's what it was. It was absolutely perfect and tender. The meal was presented beautifully and the meal was hot which you don't always get when you're dining with a large group. I could recommend this place to anyone. I also had Christmas Day lunch here with my elderly Mother and the staff and food excelled on that day too.
