We were looking forward to our 2 night stay in the Art Deco town of Napier, which is, incidentally, one of New Zealand’s busiest ports- transporting timber, local fruit and meat products to worldwide destinations
There were lots of Art Deco buildings in evidence - built after the 1931 earthquake. We didn’t realise that we arrived there on the final day of their annual carnival - hence the plethora of vintage cars being driven around, with the passengers dressed in appropriate fashions, Fascinating
The hotel was situated nicely out of the main centre and we received a warm welcome from the reception staff when we checked in. The room was lovely - a superior studio suite with great views from the balcony.
Breakfasts were taken at The Milk and Honey Cafe Bar which was part of the hotel complex - good food and service
We would not hesitate to recommend this hotel and we loved Napier with its al,year round Mediterranean climate.
Our 2 days there passed by much too quickly

Interesting place to stay as I felt it could be so much more. Room was ok, but felt a little old - furniture was scratched and carpet stained. Pillow menu was good though! Views are excellent. Service is very hit and miss, with some staff much better than others in communicating and manner. The location and views are fantastic!

Dear wisebluegenie

Thank you for your feedback. I am so surprised that you felt the room was old and carpet stained! We didn't receive any feedback during your stay particularly surrounding the carpet stain and any stains that happen, we immediately get the carpet professionally cleaned. We have looked in every room and cannot find any stains? It would be great if you contacted me directly to provide me with additional information.

Kind Regards

The room was spacious and even though it overlooked the shops opposite, it didn't really feel busy. The room was immaculately clean and we were impressed with the pillow menu! The bed was divine and the selection of teas was incredible!

Room tip: Keep the curtains closed until you are dressed!

We had expected and were hoping for a nicer place, based on descriptions and other reviews. It was fine, nothing special. We had booked a suite with two bedrooms and two baths through Hotels.com. Apparently the "configuration" is not guaranteed and we only had one bathroom. Not ideal.

Dear Excursion824237

I am disappointed your stay was not to your expectations. You booked a standard 2 bedroom with 1 bathroom as explained and shown to you and the price also reflected this room type. The 2 bedroom/2 bathroom was a premium suite which you did not book. It is always best to book direct with a hotel rather than a 3rd party website, so maybe this can be explained further.

Kind Regards
