What a delightful treat to stay at Mon Logis. The charming colonial building has a perfect position on Marine Parade with glorious views of the beach and Cape Kidnappers. The inside is beautifully maintained and appropriately decorated in keeping with the character of the building. The room was delightful: luxurious bedlinen, spotless bathrooom, fabulous view, and every possible need anticipated in advance. To top it all off, a magnificent host - Gerard is warm, welcoming, helpful and good company. He is an excellent cook and provides a stunning breakfast of fresh fruit, perfect croissants and a delectable omelette. And extremely good value - a wonderful combination and thoroughly recommended. Merci beaucoup, Gerard!

Mon Logis has it all - a wonderful host, great location, top class breakfast and delightful decor in this beautifully presented B & B. Gerrard treats you like an old friend and offers interesting and insightful conversation, along with perfect coffee and extremely generous portions. This is certainly our choice of place to stay in Napier. It's conveniently located for all that Napier has to offer, while still being far enough away from the general melee to hear the roar of the waves across the road and not be bothered by late night revellers.

A hitherto unknown gem. Thanks to Gifts to Remember for referring us.

Nice room with a view of the Pacific and the distant cliffs. Stairs probably a bit steep for elderly/infirm but everyone else will have no trouble. Balcony brekafast will be great in the summer.
Very enjoyable!

Across from the Beach, very easy walk into town, plenty of restaurants close by. Gerard is the perfect host and the breakfast he served up was fantastic. The rooms were very neat, well appointed and warm for our winter stay. Beds very comfortable.

Gerard was a delightful patron of Mon Logis. The accommodation was first class in that it was comfortable, clean, and roomy. There was a delightful lounge in which to relax with a drink and plenty of information and advice on the area. Gerard took time to chat over a magnificent breakfast of ample fresh fruit and new-baked breads. He introduced a fellow guest travelling alone with whom we shared dinner and a lovely evening. He even took the trouble to drive us up to a winery for dinner! Mon Logis had the charm of French elegance coupled with homley warmth. We thoroughly enjoyed staying and would happily return on another visit.

My husband and I vacationed for three amazing weeks in New Zealand and three nights were spent in Napier. Gerard is the perfect host - not only does he provide great accomodations (which are centrally located to everything - and across the street from the ocean!) but also helps in planning local activities. He made reservations for us (highly recommend Mission Estate Winery!), and helped us identify "must see" drives, wineries and studios. He is passionate about Napier and we enjoyed ourselves immensely!

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Mon Logis Luxury Bed & Breakfast Marine Parade Napier, New Zealand. A little Piece of France nestled in the heart of the beautiful wine growing region of Hawke's Bay. Originally built as an English Terrace house in the 1860's, this colonial Building was extended into a private hotel. Only a few minutes walk to the city centre, this grand two story colonial villa overlooking the Pacific ocean has a fascinating history as a private hotel since the early 1900's. Mon Logis is one of the building who survive the 1931 Hawke's Bay earthquake. In 1991, it became Mon Logis, meaning "My Dwelling." Now lovingly renovated, Mon Logis will cater to a maximum of eight guests and is modeled on the small privately owned French hotel. Charming personal service and French cuisine are the specialties. Of the upstairs individually furnished rooms, two have queen size beds and two have twin beds and all have their own private facilities. Owner Frenchman Gerard decorated each guest room differently but in a style in keeping with the original charm of the building. Iron bedsteads, feather duvets, lace covers and fine cotton linen all create a special elegance and one room is totally furnished with pieces bought from France. Downstairs an informal guest lounge invites relaxation, television viewing, a quiet time reading or perhaps a game of chess or bridge. Guests can help themselves to coffee or tea and biscuits any time of the day. Breakfast, served in the privacy of your own room or downstairs dining room, could be a basket of freshly baked continental breads, croissants and brioche with a compote of locally grown fruits or a wonderful herb omelette, crispy bacon and grilled tomatoes. Whichever is chosen certainly promises to be a most memorable meal. However, should the choice be made to dine out, Gerard is happy to give recommendations and as guide competent in giving an insight into Napier's unique architecture. All perfectly designed for comfort and relaxation, Mon Logis is a non smoking establishment and does not cater for children. French and Spanish are spoken; exclusive customised vineyard tour with host by arrangement. " Mon Logis is casual elegance at a price you can afford." ... more   less
