we stayed there two night, even though it's small and old building, but with its nice host and well decorated rooms and living rooms in every detail, you will love it.
during the night, it's quiet, in the early morning, the gorgeous sunrise is what you have to see.

Kind host Gerard provides very beautiful French home--made breakfast with fresh fruite and coffee. nice talking too, much recommend to everyone :)

Stayed with my wife for 2 days in October 2012. Accommodation was excellent. Gerard was very welcoming and provided a very good breakfast including home baked bread and croissants and a choice of almost any cooked breakfast foods available. Rooms were well decorated, well furnished and the heating system more than coped with the cool nights and early morning. Another bonus was the very good Indonesian Restaurant next dooor which must have been offering the best value food and wine in Napier/

A very nice place to stay, and walkable to town. A generous breakfast and we recommend the omelette. Try and eat all of the croissants ! The host is fantastic fun, and delivers very good service. If I could run such a place, I wouldn't change a thing.

Room Tip: Ask for one at the front looking out to sea, but all are good.

This accommodation was booked for us by some good friends who joined us on a trip. We had never been to a B & B before so we were not too sure what to expect. This is a beautiful renovated terrace house. It is close to Napier centre on Marine Parade,...which is a must for tourists. Close to restaurants and many attractions.
Now, the owner!! Frenchman Gerard - he should have his own TV show. He is extremely funny, full of all sorts of information AND makes the best breakfast.
We highly recommend Mon Logis, and will tell our friends and family a out this experience.

Thanks Gerard

We had a great four days with Gerard who made sure we had a good laugh, especially about our previous English/French rivalry. Our room overlooking the sea had a very large comfortable bed, free wifi, a heater (as an unseasonal southerly had brought some cold temperatures). The breakfasts were very substantial with excellent omelets, fresh fruit, croissants and good coffee. The location is very good on Marine Parade and surprisingly quiet at night, except for the fireworks on Nov. 5th.

We managed to booked all four rooms with seven of us in total. This was a fantastic stay. Gerard the frenchman was soo hospitable and recommend this stay for anyone.
I'm generally not a b&b man but this accomodation was better than a hotel. All the beds were comfy (and big) with 3 rooms with their own ensuite, the 4th room used a bathroom in the upstairs hallway and alwayz clean. Gerard even asked us what we would prefer for breakfast...we alwayz went for the omelette's and the croisants...uummm. This place overlooked the sea and was easy access to go for morning walks down the beach. Town is only a few minutes walk too. Has off street parking. A recommended stay for couples or a group.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Mon Logis Luxury Bed & Breakfast Marine Parade Napier, New Zealand. A little Piece of France nestled in the heart of the beautiful wine growing region of Hawke's Bay. Originally built as an English Terrace house in the 1860's, this colonial Building was extended into a private hotel. Only a few minutes walk to the city centre, this grand two story colonial villa overlooking the Pacific ocean has a fascinating history as a private hotel since the early 1900's. Mon Logis is one of the building who survive the 1931 Hawke's Bay earthquake. In 1991, it became Mon Logis, meaning "My Dwelling." Now lovingly renovated, Mon Logis will cater to a maximum of eight guests and is modeled on the small privately owned French hotel. Charming personal service and French cuisine are the specialties. Of the upstairs individually furnished rooms, two have queen size beds and two have twin beds and all have their own private facilities. Owner Frenchman Gerard decorated each guest room differently but in a style in keeping with the original charm of the building. Iron bedsteads, feather duvets, lace covers and fine cotton linen all create a special elegance and one room is totally furnished with pieces bought from France. Downstairs an informal guest lounge invites relaxation, television viewing, a quiet time reading or perhaps a game of chess or bridge. Guests can help themselves to coffee or tea and biscuits any time of the day. Breakfast, served in the privacy of your own room or downstairs dining room, could be a basket of freshly baked continental breads, croissants and brioche with a compote of locally grown fruits or a wonderful herb omelette, crispy bacon and grilled tomatoes. Whichever is chosen certainly promises to be a most memorable meal. However, should the choice be made to dine out, Gerard is happy to give recommendations and as guide competent in giving an insight into Napier's unique architecture. All perfectly designed for comfort and relaxation, Mon Logis is a non smoking establishment and does not cater for children. French and Spanish are spoken; exclusive customised vineyard tour with host by arrangement. " Mon Logis is casual elegance at a price you can afford." ... more   less
