“A great four days”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 10, 2012

We had a great four days with Gerard who made sure we had a good laugh, especially about our previous English/French rivalry. Our room overlooking the sea had a very large comfortable bed, free wifi, a heater (as an unseasonal southerly had brought some cold temperatures). The breakfasts were very substantial with excellent omelets, fresh fruit, croissants and good coffee. The location is very good on Marine Parade and surprisingly quiet at night, except for the fireworks on Nov. 5th.

We managed to booked all four rooms with seven of us in total. This was a fantastic stay. Gerard the frenchman was soo hospitable and recommend this stay for anyone.
I'm generally not a b&b man but this accomodation was better than a hotel. All the beds were comfy (and big) with 3 rooms with their own ensuite, the 4th room used a bathroom in the upstairs hallway and alwayz clean. Gerard even asked us what we would prefer for breakfast...we alwayz went for the omelette's and the croisants...uummm. This place overlooked the sea and was easy access to go for morning walks down the beach. Town is only a few minutes walk too. Has off street parking. A recommended stay for couples or a group.

My partner and I travelled to Napier for the first time and had a weekend that we will never forget. Mon Logis and it's wonderful host Gerard, were spectacular. Gerard made us feel welcome the moment we stepped through his door and the service he provided was like no other. Our room was immaculate and no request was too much for our host Gerard. The views from our front upstairs bedroom were lovley and the sounds of the waves breaking on the beach each night lulled us into a peaceful deep sleep. Our breakfast both mornings was delicious and started our days off beautifully with fresh homemade croissants, fresh fruit salad, hot tea and coffee, muesli, yoghurt then finished off with an omelet made to order. We both highly recommend Mon Logis to anyone visiting Napier as we can gaurantee a fantastic weekend will be experienced. We have already told all our friends and family about Mon Logis and its wonderful host and we hope to visit Gerard again when we get another opportunity. Thank you Gerard. See you again soon.

We really enjoyed our two nights stay here and Gerard was a very caring and amusing host. The breakfast table looked very inviting and the food was excellent. Our room was very clean, spacious and comfortable and we would certainly stay here again. Thank you Gerard.

Room Tip: The two front rooms face the sea and it's wonderful sitting outside on the balcony.

We had a wonderful weekend recently staying with host Gerard at Mon Logis. The room was more than what we expected and Gerard excelled himself as our host. It is our preferred place now to stay when in Napier and we hope to return for another few days next month. The Breakfast was fabulous and the cleanliness of our room was superb. Thanks again for a great stay. Julie and James

Room Tip: Balcony room is great

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Mon Logis Luxury Bed & Breakfast Marine Parade Napier, New Zealand. A little Piece of France nestled in the heart of the beautiful wine growing region of Hawke's Bay. Originally built as an English Terrace house in the 1860's, this colonial Building was extended into a private hotel. Only a few minutes walk to the city centre, this grand two story colonial villa overlooking the Pacific ocean has a fascinating history as a private hotel since the early 1900's. Mon Logis is one of the building who survive the 1931 Hawke's Bay earthquake. In 1991, it became Mon Logis, meaning "My Dwelling." Now lovingly renovated, Mon Logis will cater to a maximum of eight guests and is modeled on the small privately owned French hotel. Charming personal service and French cuisine are the specialties. Of the upstairs individually furnished rooms, two have queen size beds and two have twin beds and all have their own private facilities. Owner Frenchman Gerard decorated each guest room differently but in a style in keeping with the original charm of the building. Iron bedsteads, feather duvets, lace covers and fine cotton linen all create a special elegance and one room is totally furnished with pieces bought from France. Downstairs an informal guest lounge invites relaxation, television viewing, a quiet time reading or perhaps a game of chess or bridge. Guests can help themselves to coffee or tea and biscuits any time of the day. Breakfast, served in the privacy of your own room or downstairs dining room, could be a basket of freshly baked continental breads, croissants and brioche with a compote of locally grown fruits or a wonderful herb omelette, crispy bacon and grilled tomatoes. Whichever is chosen certainly promises to be a most memorable meal. However, should the choice be made to dine out, Gerard is happy to give recommendations and as guide competent in giving an insight into Napier's unique architecture. All perfectly designed for comfort and relaxation, Mon Logis is a non smoking establishment and does not cater for children. French and Spanish are spoken; exclusive customised vineyard tour with host by arrangement. " Mon Logis is casual elegance at a price you can afford." ... more   less
