“Beautiful balcony views”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 11, 2012

A nice room with a balcony overlooking the sea. Location was excellent for walking into the centre of Napier. Gerard was really lovely to talk to, and very helpful in organising our wine tour, and suggesting places to eat. I would strongly recommend the croissants for breakfast as they were delicious, and even better we could take some for a mid morning snack for our days out. Room facilities were a little basic compared to other places we stayed on our trip in the same price bracket; no toiletries in the bathroom, no pictures on the wall or small personal touches we have had elsewhere. However, a nice comfortable stay.

We had a realy nice stay here in April 2012. The bed was very comfortable and the breakfasts to die for. The best omlettes in Napier! Quite narrow stairs to get your suitcases up but that's par for the course when staying in an old house. No traffic noise at night on Marine Parade and you could even hear the sea if you left a window open. Older onsuite bathroom, but functional and plenty of hot water.
Definately recommend staying here and prices were reasonable.

We had a room with an ocean view and lots of windows. Initially upon our arrival I was concerned traffic from Marine Parade could be an issue but we spent 2 nights and the traffic on the road virtually stops at night. Good breakfast selection with a great omlette. Don't plan on getting to your room before the 4:00 pm check in time unless you have made prior arrangements. Our host was friendly and assisted us with directions and tour arrangements. We were pleased with our stay.

Great location. Rooms are very nice and clean. There is no TV in the rooms but there is one in the lounge area. Breakfast is amazing! One of the nicest places I've stayed.

Its great to stay at a B&B where there is no pressure to do anything - apart from relax and enjoy the fantastic breakfast on offer. The informal lounge was also a delight - where we could catch up on more relaxing. One of the must stay B&B's I've been to.

We totally recommend Mon Logis, not only for the ambience, fab food, clean and comfy bedrooms, but also for Gerard and his local knowledge. And he is very amusing! Sally and Rebecca

Gerard is a fabulous host who presents Mon Logis B&B to the highest standard, ensuring all his guests are comfortable and refreshed for Napier's sights. His home is so warm and inviting and the beds so comfy. His breakfasts of fresh fruit (blueberries - yum!), home made croissants and a large helping of cooked fare keep you going for most of the day.

Thank you Gerard, our stay was perfect and you are a delight!

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Mon Logis Luxury Bed & Breakfast Marine Parade Napier, New Zealand. A little Piece of France nestled in the heart of the beautiful wine growing region of Hawke's Bay. Originally built as an English Terrace house in the 1860's, this colonial Building was extended into a private hotel. Only a few minutes walk to the city centre, this grand two story colonial villa overlooking the Pacific ocean has a fascinating history as a private hotel since the early 1900's. Mon Logis is one of the building who survive the 1931 Hawke's Bay earthquake. In 1991, it became Mon Logis, meaning "My Dwelling." Now lovingly renovated, Mon Logis will cater to a maximum of eight guests and is modeled on the small privately owned French hotel. Charming personal service and French cuisine are the specialties. Of the upstairs individually furnished rooms, two have queen size beds and two have twin beds and all have their own private facilities. Owner Frenchman Gerard decorated each guest room differently but in a style in keeping with the original charm of the building. Iron bedsteads, feather duvets, lace covers and fine cotton linen all create a special elegance and one room is totally furnished with pieces bought from France. Downstairs an informal guest lounge invites relaxation, television viewing, a quiet time reading or perhaps a game of chess or bridge. Guests can help themselves to coffee or tea and biscuits any time of the day. Breakfast, served in the privacy of your own room or downstairs dining room, could be a basket of freshly baked continental breads, croissants and brioche with a compote of locally grown fruits or a wonderful herb omelette, crispy bacon and grilled tomatoes. Whichever is chosen certainly promises to be a most memorable meal. However, should the choice be made to dine out, Gerard is happy to give recommendations and as guide competent in giving an insight into Napier's unique architecture. All perfectly designed for comfort and relaxation, Mon Logis is a non smoking establishment and does not cater for children. French and Spanish are spoken; exclusive customised vineyard tour with host by arrangement. " Mon Logis is casual elegance at a price you can afford." ... more   less
